Opinion Trump and the UFC - Neutral Take...

He didn’t just show up , he was given an entire celebratory segment with music and visuals and wwe style entrances and lots of patting on the backs lol .. it’s a bit different to just acknowledging he’s in the room with the other celebrities. Nobody is saying he shouldn’t be allowed in the building or that he is wrong for supporting the UFC.
Do you really believe that if a president shows up at a baseball game he would only receive a quick camera cut with his name on a lower third?

It's the president of the US. It's almost the best type of promotion for their show. Trump isn't some fight poser. He has been going to or hosting fights since the 80s. It really is his hobby.

Smh

You have 32 iq if you don't understand what was at stake during this last election
Who cares. They're all shit. Prices aren't going to go down, this guy was already in office before, and America wasn't paved with golden streets. In 4 more years it'll be the same shit all over again. And then 4 years after that. None of them care about us. I didn't vote for him because he's a moron but I'm holding him to his word. This wasn't a fate of the world election.

I'm going to keep calling it simping. Voters and the UFC and lots of fighters simp for this man. He's not your savior. He promises 100 and he'll give you 20. The President isn't powerful enough to do everything he wants.

Not getting too into politics I'm sick of em.

Will only say that I don't like Trump, he's a pretty terrible person in a lot of ways, but, he's the next president as voted on by the majority, so gotta respect that (i have much of the same dislike for the other side, too. They're all turds).

But. UFC ain't the first league to try and involve the president, hell every other sport goes to the white house when they win a title.

I find it all very gauche and hamfisted tbh. Makes a sport that already gets enough flack for being 'dumb' look down right braindead tbh. Trump is a privileged delusional little pussy who has duped the special needs right into thinking he's some man's man. It's genuinely bizarre to see him prancing around, he hasn't fought in any wars, successfully changed anything for the better or even be a down to earth good guy. All he's done is convince absolute melts to destroy their own lives for the benefit of him and his rich buddies. I'm not American so I don't give a fuck what you guys do, but Jesus Christ when real life is more of a satire than the onion you've fucked up.
“I have no understanding of what’s going on or interest to look things up myself, but I have very strong opinions about it!”

Lol, stfu and piss off.

I didn't vote, because I am completely disillusioned with the American left, but I also do not endorse the republican right.

I think it is a mistake to turn the UFC into a platform for political propaganda. Dana is free to support Trump and they are free to give him free seats, as well as to anyone else they want. And they can and should show him in attendance, as they do with celebrities, and even emphasize his presence, as they have done. But as a company, many people involved, including the fighters, might not align with that message or actively showing a trailer for the candidate. They are the stars of the show, and they might not represent the politics put forth. Even if a minority is in that position, it generates polarization.

This is selfish and disrespectful to fighters: the company represents not only the will of the owners, but the people that work and compete there. It was a polarizing and needless avowal of Trump.

Leaving freedom for any fighter to express their views is good; making the show a vehicle of support for one side of a very divisive bipartisan political system, is not. I would think the exact same thing regardless of the politician, party, or position.

Flame away...

It is super weird they turned this into a full blown propaganda thing

When they showed him I didn’t care—hell it was kinda cool having a former president at the fights. But it’s now gotten to the point where it’s his entire family and political lackeys. Like they showed me Mike Johnson, who monitors his son’s pornography usage with an app, and I’m over it. Extremely weird and corny how literally everyone kisses Trump’s ass the entire night.

Right, so 90+% of the academic constituency, to which I belong, is below 80-IQ.

This is not about Trump vs. Kamala.
yes if you study gender science and feminist studies. <lol> Its actually 60-40 and given that its not specified what degrees those people actually have there is no way for you to say which fraction of those people are smarter. having a degree in math vs a degree in some woke bullshit is a big difference.

Sports as PR numbers for any sort of politics is both irritating and something we all really have to live with. Going further than giving a royal/politician a moment of screentime and an introudctory comment should not happen. But happens. The full blown entrance was probably going too far (even though UFC kinda has more reason to suck up to Trump than many other sports orgs have to many other political agendas/persons)

Less irritating that this, though:

Kimi deciding to stand was fucking awesome, though.

abso. fuckin. lutely.

keep politics out of sports. keep the military out while you're at it.

Im not from the US, so your politics dont really bother me...to me its cool AF seing a president attending this things, does he get preferential treatment? Of course, but appreciate the fact that a person in that position likes the same sport as you.

Infatuation with a politician that goes beyond mere support is weird. Making that support a core part of your identity is also weird. Extreme levels of adoration are how every dangerous politician ever has cultivated dangerous levels of unchecked power.

I have a degree in mathematics. I've never heard of the majors you're talking about, and I'd say that learning shit does make you more intelligent. That being said, a very strong majority of academia dislikes trump very much.

I think this is a good read. Yet, even if a relatively small minority of the workers, viewers, and fighters in the UFC are democrat leaning, this was needlessly polarizing. I seriously had a friend tonight who walked out of the fights, and said he's done with the UFC. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people, who feel very strongly politically, would take such stances. It seems needlessly confrontational and taking one side of a very divisive issue.
Bill Burr said it best...

“I came there to go to the fights. I didn't know I was going to the Republican National Convention."

Nah fuck that. Trump supported the UFC when nobody else would.
