Oh man have I been blessed with two great mechs in a row. Ladies and gentlemen I bring you Oliver Kennedy Boomer - O.K.Boomer!

Brand: HIGH GODO
Name: Artillery Mech
Pieces: 581
Price on Amazon: $34.99 (got it 6% off)

Everything well packaged and I wasn't missing any pieces. Had plenty of extras for my growing supply.

Instructions were good. Bags were numbered and of course you used pieces from different bags each stage. Once again this was pointed out in the instructions clearly.

There were around 50 stickers again. The usual high quality I've come to expect from High GODO.

No problems at all with figuring out different colors which was nice. Tan, gray, and black being the primary colors.

This came with the same type of mini figure as before. The cockpit is once again easy to get to.

The mech came with a stand and it is much better than the previous mech. I do wish they would use something other than a ball and socket. Makes it a bit harder to pose in action poses. Very minor complaint. This guy had zero problem standing on its own.

The mech is slightly over 9" tall, so about an inch shorter than the Main Mech.

Still have the issue with the stiff knee joints (I came relate).

Uses the same piston system on the torso and ankles. I really love this feature. All the pieces went together great and nothing loose at all.

The new design in the hands is really winning me over.

All the arm and leg joints (minus the knees) are firm and hold their position when posing, even with that massive arm cannon.

Speaking of, not only is is massive it looks amazing and was really well designed. The shoulder mounted rocket launchers can twist slightly but nothing more. They really add to the look though. I also like the mini guns on the chest where the cockpit is.

There is a ton of moving parts so it's easy to move things out of the way when posing it.

I really like this mech even more than the previous one. It's super solid all the way around. It is easier to pose since there aren't quite as many sections that need to be move independently. Everything about it was fun to build. Highly recommend. Overall 11/10 (Seriously it was that much fun).

And now we show the goods!

Come at me bro...

1000007011.jpg

Or I can come to you...

1000007012.jpg

Back flex! Really like the big jet on the back. The two smaller flames can be positioned in tons of different ways.

1000007014.jpg

Left side!

1000007013.jpg

Right side! Look at that honking gun! LOOK AT IT!!!!

1000007015.jpg

Long Gun Logan and O.K. Boomer about to fuck shit up!

1000007016.jpg

And side by side at attention.

That's probably my favourite so far ^

Of the different brands of " non-lego " you've been assembling, which do you think is the best so far and the worst? Is there a particular stand out ?

Saw on Reddit someone said he kept a pose for a week of ML Maximum Hulk and then the result was both armpit edges had the rubber tear a bit. Lame. Had a feeling something like that would happen due to the soft rubber torso.

Best by far has been High GODO/Suban (I am 99.99% sure they are the same company). The brick quality is right up there with Lego. The only downside is they do use a TON of stickers (especially the smaller 500-700 piece sets). The packaging has been great and the directions are really good. The value is there in spades since you end up paying roughly 5-7 cents (US) per brick, where Lego is right around 10 per brick.

JMBricklayer is good, but their designs can be hit or miss as far as structural integrity. They have one of my favorite builds (The Monkey King) and one that I hated building but loved how it looks (Blue Dragon Knight). Instructions and packaging have been good, and all bricks are printed.

The company that was just a bunch of letters (The Bull mech, haven't seen anything from them recently) was fine. The design was a bit of a pain but I'm 100% sure they either stole it from JMBricklayer, or might be the same company using a different distributor.

QOQ (the Pacific Rim sets) are by far the worst. Loose bricks, stained hands, and miscolored bricks. I haven't seen anything other than the Pacific Rim stuff, so they are easy to avoid.

There are two more companies - TIALLOW and DAHONPA that look like they might have some cool designs. TIALLOW mechs all seem to be "transforming" which from reviews really just mean you can choose one of two designs.

There are a couple on Teemu I'm thinking of taking a stab at just because the price is really good (I know they usually come without a box which I'm a bit skeptical about).

So in summary -

High GODO = Buy and then buy some more.
Sluban = Buy
JMBricklayer = should be ok but might have some frustration building
qoq = avoid

NOTE: I haven't tried any of the smaller 150-300 piece sets that look like they are geared more for being toys than displays.

I live in Cardiff man, hope you enjoy! Good city! You may have lucked out a bit as usually there's a massive fucking gig on every weekend in the summer months and the city is jam-packed.

The other day at Target, I saw these maybe 3.75" 5POA crude figures of the Christopher Reeves Superman movie. Didn't see if Super7 made them and they were under the $24.99 peg. I was thinking who da fook would buy that for that price, and today, they were under the $7.99 peg and only two of the bad guy were left. (EDIT: Spin Master)

Walmart had Star Wars TVC for around under $20 each. I guess I ain't buying TVC anymore.

Got in before 10 and was quiet then...love Cardiff , normally come down for a rugby game, turn up on a Thursday or so , go nerd shopping, Saturday afternoon watch rugby , more nerd stuff or sightseeing then go home Monday.

Did Galactic Attic , Jacobs Market comic shop, Troutmark books , Forbidden Planet, Oxfam books , HMV. Didn't do the indoor market comic shop or Super tomato. There's other places too if I'm there for a few days I do.

Ended up with.....

10 or so Conan the Barbarian
1 ROM
Several Micronauts
Numerous 2000ad

All comics , no toys .

My sister's surprise 40th last weekend was on the roof garden of Jacob's.

The Maximum Series Hulk was such an incredible let down on so many fronts. The Spider-Man was decent but way overpriced, at least it was an all new sculpt. Hulk was just lazy reuse from a figure that was more than 5 years old with a new chest piece, some shitty looking head sculpts, and an absurd price. A company with integrity would be embarrassed by pulling some shit like that but it's just another Tuesday for Hasbro

Buckle up. This episode has...

Yeah, all those heads sucked. They should get whoever did the Shanna head and Outback Rogue head to do more heads. Some were super good and I don't mind them re-using them via repaint.

I'm trying to get the plasma effect going, but it's not quite looking how I wanted. I wanted to have it look like the top and bottom guns are alternating fire, with a 'blob' of plasma traveling down the coils; the top gun has a blob at the end of the barrel being fired and another at the back being produced while the bottom gun has its blob right in the middle. Problem is...you can't see the bottom coil from most angles so the top coils end up looking sort of incomplete. I'm thinking what I'll do is reverse it on the right-hand gun so it's firing in diagonal banks and you can better see the two different patterns.

I also tried my hand at some minor OSL (Object Source Lighting). It's subtle enough that I'm not sure it's making a difference. You can see it in the edge highlighting around the blobs and barrel vents.

Monster High Corpse Bride Emily Skullector Doll

I wish I could give you a link, but it's pre-sold out everywhere I've looked. If you can find one at non-Ebay scalper prices and you're a fan? Jump on it.

Damn , that looks great. At £60 it's cheaper than expected,.. except there's nowhere seems to have any available over here apart from eBay..which is like £40 more...

I'll be on the hunt for the thread. If I find a link, I'll post it ASAP. You can always hold out and try to catch it in store when it drops in September.
