For the brickheads! :)
Don't care about Fortnite at all, but I may have to bite on that Soundwave.

So I loved and hated this build sooo much. The cool parts are so damn cool, but the parts that sucked were so damn frustrating. This is from JBbricklayer and was 1640 pieces. Got it for $45.

The instructions were fine, and zero stickers.

Might as well get the hate outta the way:

This is so fragile it's crazy. After taking the first 3 photos it tilted forward and exploded. The big issue with it is being so damn top heavy, and specifically front heavy. The skirting keeps popping off, and the front "belt" piece likes to come off too (I modified it to make it more stable). The feet also like to split apart (same issue as the bullmech).

The weapon is too heavy in general, and again VERY top heavy. The silver blades also curl off the body (fixed this with a couple inset studs). Even though the right hand has a stud to attach it too, the placement of where it attaches on the weapon is so low it can't be held one handed at all).

This is more minor, but there are THREE different colors of grey/silver and were a pain to figure out which was which (thankfully there were only a couple of the same style piece that used the different greys).

Now for the good:

The colors look AMAZING. Between the green, copper, silver, and other colors this thing is beautiful.

Love how the head looks and ot was a fun build.

The torso is solid and that is contributing to it being top heavy. It is on two ball joints and can only lean side to side.

The legs are also well designed and solid. Very limited knee movement (there is a weird piston thing in the back that is too tight to move freely).

The arms and hands are well designed and have decent mobility, even with the rather large pauldron on thr left shoulder.

Speaking of that left shoulder... HOLY SHIT is that thing awesome. Not only does it look great, it is well designed and it doesn't get in the way when you position the arm. Did I mention it looks great?

A few things I've discovered while exploring these offbrand sets from overseas -

They tend to get into trouble with all the "extras" they put on the mechs. The core build (chest, arms, legs) are usually good to great. But when the start adding all the hoops, heads, spikes, and others things tend to get fragile.

They like to use angles and slants to their figures which look cool but tend to not be as secure since there isn't as many connection points.

They use a lot of unique pieces you don't see in Lego sets. Same with all the cool colors.

Honestly, with a few tweeks to how they are built and simplifying a few design elements, these sets would blow Lego out of the water.

So overall, I have to give this set a 7.25/10. Had they included a stand I would have bumped this up to an 8.5/10.

LOOK AT THIS THING!!!!

Using both hands to hold up his spear... things would go bad shortly after.

1000006941.jpg

Right side.

1000006942.jpg

The back. See those silver "pistons"? They are too stiff and cause the surrounding pieces to pop off if you flex his knees.

1000006943.jpg

It exploded right after that picture :(

This is after I put it back together. Weapon removed.

Quite impressive! You really post some amazing stuff!

At Target, saw the Lego Spider-Man Venom Museum polybag for $4.99 and it came with a Spidey and a Venom minifig. Realizing the blind bag/box CMF's are like $5+, I had to buy or I'd regret it and come back and see all sold out.

Watched a youtube review of the ML Psylocke Thanos 2pk and decided even if I somehow find it, I'll skip since the Psylocke faces don't look so good and hoping they'll release a retro cardback single version. I just saw on Reddit someone custom painted a Psylocke face and looked not bad. The high articulation body looks good. You know an Elektra has to be coming on that body.

Got Amazon Prime and saw there's a Chris Claremont X-Men documentary and watched maybe half and not bad. At least two of the women he worked closely with at Marvel were probably not bad in their primes.

Nice find.

I've kept my Psylocke order open as it was on offer at around half price and I don't have either her or Thanos . At full price I wouldn't have bitten . The Thanos is okay but the colour not quite comic accurate ( understandable as it is Gamerverse).

I heard that one of the Marvel guys alluded that Psylocke will be coming on a retro card in the future ....

Picked these up today...

Got the Batmobile as I thought it was cool.

Got the bottom one as I also thought it looked good. Got the middle DeLorean because it is part of the set of 10 with the Datsun and if I see some others I may get them...

I saw an early pic of a Hot Wheels Toyota Celica, I think, and the sculpt was so sharp and detailed. A lot of the older sculpts especially look so dull and lack detail especially when painted. Recent pick ups were blue & white Dodge Viper GTS because it looks like the car from the first PS1 Gran Turismo and McLaren F1 in red. Ordered the HW Premium GIJ Skystriker on Amazon where the listing said something like assortment may vary, but all the product pics were the F-14, and never did find it in stores at all.

So the ML with MTG card is like $25 for figure, then $15 extra for the MTG card? That sounds like too much.

I saw a leak list of ML that includes Marvel Rivals Punisher, so looked up what that video game version looks like and he's very thick like almost Hulk sized and with sleeves rolled up. Might need to buy.

funnily enough today i passed up on some hot wheels and matchbox cars from the 70s-90s. they were neat but, damn had they been beat up by some kid that loved those things back in the day lol.

Hearing rumors of a Star Trek TNG Lego set coming out possibly this year.

.......Trying to not deviate from D&D/fantasy type Lego but one could say I'm interested.

Fuck, I may be an addict. High GODO just released a new wave of mechs. All on the "smaller" side of around just under 600 pieces. I ordered 3 already and will probably get the others in no time.

EDIT: I'll get my pictures and review of Crimson Typhoon up later. It wasn't good lol.

Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon from qoq via Walmart. $27, 698 pieces.

This was a mess. It had the expected numbered bag issue as the previous two. There were at least 2 different red bricks, but I'm positive that was just a production error (I think they used 2 different factories). Almost all the pieces are supe loose (his body will spin like a top). I was missing one piece that was for the ball joint on an arm so I had to improvise.

It came with 2 ways to have the head, a pre-built one (the one I used) or one you could build from bricks (looked meh and wasn't very sturdy). I think the one I used is pretty good looking and I now have a bunch of extra red parts.

The legs are funky. I know that they were going for movie accuracy, but they don't work very well. The middle section is super limited and pieces keep popping off. Trying to balance him is a pain.

There were 9 stickers, some covering multiple pieces which I'm not a fan of. Really hard to place on the mech since they are all put on after the model is fully built.

It doesn't look bad, but since it's so hard to pose without falling over I can't really say I like it very much. I should have picked up the one from High GODO (double the cost though) since I know the quality is better, and it comes with a base.

Overall 3.75 outta 10.

So in conclusion for the Pacific Rim set, I can't recommend them unless you're a huge fan of the source material (I am). Striker Eureka is by far my favorite of the three (won't be getting Sabre Athena).

Really looking forward to the new stuff from High GODO.

Ladies and gentlemen I am happy to report that my (three) new Mech sets came in today and I have one of them to review already! Excited? I sure am because this this is...

AWESOME!!!!

Brand: HIGH GODO
Name: Main Battle Mech

Pieces: 598
Price on Amazon: $34.99 (got it 6% off).

So I bought 3 sets at once because I'm a junkie, but the boxes didn't show which one you're getting (pretty sure the sticker said but I couldn't read it) so I just chose one at random. I want to call it Long Gun Logan.

They had the usual numbered bags, but one again you're going to use pieces from multiple bags each stage. Instructions are good at letting you know what bags you're pulling from though. The darker green and Grey can get confused, but only one piece that I recall was the same type where a mixup could occur. Thankfully it wouldn't matter since it wasn't a piece that's seen.

They did supply a base/stand, but honestly it's not a great one. You'll see in the pictures that it really isn't big enough or heavy enough. But at least they made the attempt and I do appreciate it. Thankfully this can stand on its own without any real issues.

This is also the first set of theirs that I bought that has a mini fig included. It's kinda cool since the neck goes all the way through the body to help hold it all in place. To get the vest on you had to take the arms off and then reattach them. I like the printing on the fig and the arm bands are kinda cool.

They went with a new style for the hands that seems to be taken from how Gundam models are done. They are in a plastic sprue like model parts. Thumb and first finger are separate, and the other three are attached to each other. They also had a dedicated left and right sprue. I think I like it. Make sure to check out the picture of his left hand.

There were a ton of stickers again, almost 50, but good quality and have a great gloss to them. I did manage to mess one up trying to reposition it, but it just looks like battle damage. Some printed blocks would have been nice, but no deal breaker.

The only "real" negative would be the knee joints. They are just too stiff. They use a flat ratchet hinge but I think if they switched to a bulb ratchet it would still be firm but not super tight.

This thing might have too many points of articulation. Seriously, just about everything can move. It's incredible. I absolutely love how they used "pistons" for the body and at the ankles. These help keep everything where it should be and are still super smooth to operate. So well designed.

The head is a one piece mould that swivels and nods up and down.

The twin guns on either shoulder have decent movement with the brackets (those were also on a model like sprue).

The left shoulder pauldron has a slight issue with popping off, but I'm pretty sure I've got it on tight now. Both the left and the right don't really interfere with moving the arms in various poses.

Now let's talk about that right arm... Holy smokes that this is badass. Even though it's pretty heavy, the arm and elbow joints are plenty firm enough to hold it in just about any position you'd want. It is also spring loaded and can launch toothpick sized objects.

I took more photos than usual because I was having so much fun messing around with it and putting it in different poses.

Even though it is a "smaller" set than what I've been building, this thing is more than worth the money spent. This would be an excellent choice for someone who wanted to try out the brand or just a mech in general.

I'm going to deducted .5 from the score just because of all the stickers and the too tight knee joints. With that I give it a 10.5/10. Seriously, I love this.

Now for pretty pictures.

Crimson Typhoon photo bomb!

Wait, what's he doing with his left hand?

1000006954.jpg

Side shot of the gun arm. That magazine looks sick!

1000006966.jpg

Crimson Typhoon and Long Gun Logan side by side.
1000006968.jpg

Extras and the model sprues. Also a good look at the hand design.

1000006970.jpg

Shot of the back showing the pistons at the ankles. They really provide good stability.

1000006967.jpg

He's doing it again!

1000006955.jpg

The stand. Really needed to be bigger and heavier. The mech has a pin that just slides onto it. Since it is a ball joint it wants to twist down.

1000006959.jpg

Mini Logan ready to rock!

1000006960.jpg

In the driver's seat. This is really easy to get to.

1000006962.jpg

Action pose!

Reddit has posts citing Dan Yun re: ML retro re-issues at Walmart including Rhino, JJJ, Sandman, Electro, Target X97 Wolverine, Rogue, maybe X97 Cyclops at fan channel. Thought it was weird seeing these and the ML Wonder Woman re-issue posted earlier without any mention from the Hasbro team.

I'm wondering what the retro Marc Silvestri era Dazzler would look like with the Savage Land Shanna super beautiful head. I need to swap the Dazzler head. Hard to think of what would be good. The AoA Shadowcat might work, but is also kinda fugly.

Rhino is up on reorder on Hasbro already in the UK, Electro ( guy) too .

Didn't know about JJJ (need) or Sandman ( don't need but will get another) so thanks.

Next up a guy I'm calling O.K.Boomer.

This is bag #12 showing the model sprue an a couple prebuilt parts. Predator head knee pads?

1000007003.jpg

Here's the mini fig preconstruction.
To get the vest on the arms have to come off. Not sure why Oliver Kennedy Boomer needs 4 hands though...
