Social Toy Collectors Thread

I don't think Pokemon cards are sold in sets. I had a few from buying McDonalds and cereal and I didn't see any sort of numbering on the cards to help identify exactly which one you got like baseball cards have year, brand, number, serial number for low print run cards. EDIT: Some cards have numbers in tiny font at the bottom.

This is a good site for cards. Pokemon is under Gaming.

What got me a bit excited recently was 2024 Topps Chrome Star Wars cards which included characters from Ahsoka like the Stevenson Punisher actor character as well as Andor, cartoon Rebels, live action Mandalorian, Thrawn, live action Cad Bane, and the General Grievous one looked cool. The different thing is they are using some sort of artsy generic brighter background instead of dark space backgrounds. I started collecting certain characters. The write ups on the backs are sort of lacking though. This set has MEW as Hera Syndulla looking very pretty.

Card-crack and plastic-crack do tend to go hand-in-hand. Lots of overlap in those communities. MTG, DnD, and 40k are the holy trinity of sweaty nerd dungeons.
Not really. Card game players tend to stick with card games, minis with minis and, DnD players are fully on their own.

40k players stick almost entirely with 40k just due to the cost and the time it takes to paint and assemble the units. DnD players also stick mainly to their game, with some dabbling in minis, but usually only to use them in campaigns.

I guess our experiences are pretty different then. Every gaming group I've been in has people who participated in at least two of the three TCG/TTRPG/Minis, with a healthy amount of weebery and boardgames as garnish.

i play magic & dnd. i can’t imagine affording both magic & warhammer w/o getting kicked out of my house

This post needs more @GhostZ06

I love the 40K universe, but there's NO WAY, I'm going to get into the tabletop scene. It's REALLY big at my local comic shop also. Tourneys nearly every Sunday and games during the week. That COST though!

40k is a huge up-front cost. Model, tools, painting supplies, and then the time to assemble, paint, and learn the game. Some shops will do escalation leagues to help spread that out, where they start with small fights and over the course of six-ish months will build up to a full-sized army. ~$150 to start and then ~$50-$100 a month for six months is an easier pill to swallow than dumping $500 on an army right from the jump.

^ Good color scheme, but can't quite get past sexy lady thigh high boots.

It appears GIJ CS Stinger arrived.

I have the same one too. Are you going to open it? I put mine next to Kalibak.

Nah. I'm pretty much NRFB. I have a Mezco Darkseid that I did open up and have on display.

I figure that I got in early enough to snag all of the mega-fig Darkseid variants. Statues don't do it for me, I gotta have some pose ability.

Mezco Darkseid
DAH Darkseid
MacFarlane Mega fig Darkseid

and

An old-school Mega fig Darkseid

Not my channel (don't have one), but it shows the size of that MONSTER!

Well...

I'm a sucker for the Marvel retro Funko pop with the cover art , but only if they're cheap enough.

Ignore the fact that they got the mask colour wrong...
