Social Toy Collectors Thread

Haven't really bought any hardcopy comics since college days. I did buy a bunch of iTunes tradepaperback collections, but am thinking, they disappear after I'm gone. I do like being able to read them without digging out old dusty comics.

Sometime after college days, Best Buy sold these Git Corp DVD-ROMs with many, many years of X-Men, Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man. I wish I bought all instead of just X-Men. They are PDFs of regular issues and annuals. Now used copies of the DVD-ROMs are a few hundred bucks. I think brand new back then was $50 each. They aren't clean digital copies like Marvel Unlimited, but scans including advertisements.

OK. Yeah, I remember those DVD-ROMs. It's interesting that they've become collectible & increased in value so much.
Now, I wish that I'd bought the Amazing Spider-man. I actually used to own a near-complete collection of the comic. I began collecting when I was ten years old back in the '70s & with a lot of help from my parents I was able to get every issue from #6 on up until I quit collecting in the '80s just before I began college. Unfortunately, that's when I sold all my comics in order to buy a new car.

I didn't begin collecting them again until 2010.

I started collecting comics from when I was around 12 - 13. My mom had an old steamer trunk and I just kept putting them in there. When I came home on leave from the military, I found out that my nephew took a few and drew in them. I didn't freak out but I knew it was time for me to grab my crap!

I still have them all!

I'm guessing a lot of the old comics would fall apart if you tried to open them to read. The paper or where the paper creases to be stapled would probably split and fall out.

I kinda want to get some specialty comic toploader or something to display some nicer comic covers on the wall as decoration, but light would probably fade it.

I wish I still had my old X-Men vs. Teen Titans Walt Simonson, X-Men vs. Alpha Flight, and other limited series/specials to re-read. The first tradepaperback I got was Dark Phoenix. Luckily I can just re-read that on DVD-ROM PDF. I'm now reading some of the old Uncanny X-Men I bought around college but didn't get around to reading. I'm at the creation of Generation-X with Banshee and White Queen.

No way man! :)

I joined the military at 17 and everything that went into storage was climate-controlled. Some pages are yellowed but they're 100% solid and readable. The only thing is that I have to use reading glasses now. :/

Even the slightly glossier paper like Dark Horse used? That paper will for sure crack at the staples and fall out.

Aw man! Don't make me dive into the archives man! :)

You just might find some old Playboy disguished as comics.

BRUH!!!!

My mama would've kicked my butt OFF my body! :) However a teacher did rent us some XXX movies once.

I am not making that up and yes it was a dude. That's as far as it went.

Pulled 3 random books to see how they stacking up and the foil is doing the best. the paper is the worst.

Who's gonna buy this very expensive 1/9 scale Bandai Imagination Works Goku? Can't tell if the gi is textured plastic or fabric. I read something saying some joints will be covered in silicone and someone said they might eventually crack. My silicone Otterbox case is becoming loose, so not sure if I would pay a lot for joints that aren't durable. Looks great though. Looking forward to seeing a youtube review.

I think it said it will have alternate SSJ head, alternate face and eyes where you can make him looking off to the side.

I like it but..

How much is it?

The King Kong's head is too much like conehead.

Seems like the first Fri or Monday in a while I didn't see any action figure pre-orders I had to pounce on.

After playing Gundam Battle Operation 2, I am needing to order a 1/144 Char's Zaku II but with anti-ship rifle, but seems it doesn't have the new skirt that stays put. Also wanting to order a GP01, but saw it's a really old kit where you have to paint a bunch of parts.
