Haven't really bought any hardcopy comics since college days. I did buy a bunch of iTunes tradepaperback collections, but am thinking, they disappear after I'm gone. I do like being able to read them without digging out old dusty comics.
Sometime after college days, Best Buy sold these Git Corp DVD-ROMs with many, many years of X-Men, Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man. I wish I bought all instead of just X-Men. They are PDFs of regular issues and annuals. Now used copies of the DVD-ROMs are a few hundred bucks. I think brand new back then was $50 each. They aren't clean digital copies like Marvel Unlimited, but scans including advertisements.
OK. Yeah, I remember those DVD-ROMs. It's interesting that they've become collectible & increased in value so much.
Now, I wish that I'd bought the Amazing Spider-man. I actually used to own a near-complete collection of the comic. I began collecting when I was ten years old back in the '70s & with a lot of help from my parents I was able to get every issue from #6 on up until I quit collecting in the '80s just before I began college. Unfortunately, that's when I sold all my comics in order to buy a new car.
I didn't begin collecting them again until 2010.
