Social Toy Collectors Thread

Do NOT open the boxes. I believe the death star is a collectable now and discontinued? The Falcon should be discontinued soon as well. Apparently lego appreciates in value pretty well.

Ok thanks for that info. I won’t open it. Biggest set I’ve built was the $130 pyramid. I build really slow so it took me like 4 days. It would probably take me a month to finish the UCS Millenium falcon.

I looked at the Death Star on eBay. It’s going for about $1100. That’s insane.

I posted before about Lego pieces crumbling and the clutch power diminishing due to the plastic degrading. Buy stocks or mutual funds instead of unopened Lego sets.

I used to order Lego Technic pieces, especially interesting new pieces, for use with normal household stuff in lieu of expensive 3D printing. Even the snap coupler pieces will shatter. I feel like a fool for spending so much money on these pieces that crumble after a few years.

For the most part, I buy Lego when it’s on sale and/or clearance. I buy the clearance ones to gives as gifts down the road. If I buy it full price, I know I’ll definitely open it and build it.

I don’t buy it to invest but if it becomes expensive down the road, I’m willing to sell them. I was actually thinking of selling some of it but I don’t really wanna deal with eBay fees and scams. Not sure what to do right now.

You could sell that Death Star for something nice now since it's retired.

Thanks for that. Lego is growing even more, athletes and celebs build them now too.

Lol ,

I started to make up Lego occasionally at work when there's nothing to do. We had people bring in model trains and paint them. Then I got my first Lego and began doing that . From that we had numerous people come over to look at the set and chat about it and then start to see the new stuff, then a couple of guys started to buy them and build them at home...then people brought in Warhammer figures to paint...

I went to another depot and there's a guy putting together a Lego Architecture set....

And another chap took great delight about saying how he got given Lego Technic from his wife at Christmas after seeing me put stuff together and thinking it looked kind of fun....

It seems there's a McF website exclusive DC Anne Hathaway Catwoman with bike. If the body sculpt is film accurate, the thought of a Anne Hathaway action figure...

From today's Star Wars livestream, I think I prefer non-actor likeness Thrawn head on this updated body. Curious if the TVC Mando with soft goods cape has the good hips.

Y'all seen the GI Joe Classified series? They're like GI Joes from our childhood but roided up.

- Like the Mortal Kombat storm colletible? Guys biceps are bigger than their heads!

Got this coming on Sunday. Thought it was the best looking comic Ironman that is available at a reasonable price.

And just sprung $20 on MODOK. Couldn't say no at that price . The comic type version, not the film one or the Elvis version. Thankfully.

^ I think that's the Iron Man version from the cartoon. I somehow won an animation cel from that cartoon. It may have been from subscribing to the comic.
