Topuria's path to GOAT and passing Jon

not good enough. Anderson has 11 title fight wins including 10 straight title defenses. GSP has 13 title fight wins. Even Randy Couture competed in 16 title fights, winning or defending a belt 10 times.

Top currently has 3 total title fights and your stated run of 4 more gives him 7. He should forget all this weight class jumping. If he stays at lightweight and defends 6+ times then we can start talking GOAT.

Anderson is a really good MT striker with below average wrestling. His run is broadly the product of good timing and opponent selection.

He is nowhere near the same overall skill level of someone like Topuria.

Chael @%@ Sonnen beat the absolute shit out of Anderson. Weidman bounced his head of the canvas in the first round of their first fight. These are not similarly well rounded people.

Strength of schedule is what matters and Topuria murder KO'ing P4P Volk and Charles back to back on an undefeated career is materially more important than anything Silva did, by a wide wide margin.

He needs like 7 to 8 title fight wins... right now he is close to conor or like anthony pettis or Frankie Edgar.... so top like 15 to 30 all time

Even then, Jon is still nicely ahead. Try this….

LW - Arman, Gaethje, Paddy + 2 more wins, so 5 defences to claim most LW defences.

WW - 5 defences there after title win.

28-0 overall and 16-0 in UFC, 3 division champ with 11 total defences

If Ilia beats Arman and then likely Pimblett, then moves up and beats Islam/Della for the 170lb title and retires...its really still a worse career than Jones.

All this "he has to make X amount of title defences" etc stuff is dumb. The quality of the fighters you're beating is by far the main metric regardless of whether it happens in a title fight or not, because depending on the division you're in you could be making title defences against bums.

Anyway, hes at Volk, Max and Charles right now, and has knocked them all out early, being the first fighter EVER to KO Max and only the second ever to stop him in any way, and hes been at a significant size disadvantage vs 2 of those 3 opponents. So hes off to an insanely strong start but he'd still need to beat Islam, Arman plus maybe 3-4 other good wins before we can genuinely make the argument.

The only current fighter that *could* have a case for entering Mt Rushmore without a whole lotta lot of "ifs" is Islam.

Ilia will never fight at WW. He will entertain the idea because he is smart, he can, and he has the upper hand in the "Islam is ducking me" story.

As for now, Ilia is the 9th double champ, the only undefeated one, and #1 P4P (at least until Islam vs JDM, if -again, if- Islam wins).

He's probably the 4th FW all time (Volk, Aldo, Max above him IMO).
And currently holds the LW belt, still no defenses.

9 win streak in the UFC. Just 9 fights.
Take it easy.

... because he's a proven seriel cheater in the sport

If Topuria were to:

1. Defend and beat the #1 contender Arman, beat the next line after that, say someone like Gamrot
2. Win a third weight title against whoever holds it at WW, and defend it against a #1 contender, reitre, that's all she wrote, Jon asterisks Jones may as well start Slap Fighting in Albequerque because Topuria's very exsitence will erase him otherwise.

(Not saying this is likely)

Topuria has been reprimanded for grabbing the fence before.

You're coping hard if you think I'm talking about potential and not that fangirl scenario you've cooked up in your head.
I just call it how I see it. We are seeing something special with Topuria's level of dominance that we haven't seen since Khabib or Silva.

I also started another thread criticizing him for ducking Arman so there goes the narrative you've cooked up in your head princess.

Longevity matters …. Jones fought the number one contenders for a decade
Jones has longevity but he's not a great fighter to watch or hasn't been for most of his career.

Silva, Khabib and Topuria are all beautiful to watch in their own way.

Silva with his flow, Khabib with his mauling and Topuria with his tnt killshots.

Suplex on Bonnar

Cracked Vera Orbital

Matusenko in a crucifix

Choked out Bader

Ran a clinic on Shogun

Choked Machida lifeless

Chocked out rampage

Beautiful jab / elbows against Evans

Surviving armbar against Vitor

Fought Glover inside at boxing range and beat him at his own game

Great fight against Gus

Out grinded Dc and then head kicked him

Took Gus down in rematch and wrecked him

Choked out Gane and Spinning back kick Against Stipe

Jones is well rounded and therefore isn’t known for one thing, but his highlight reel is fantastic

Yeah he used to be a lot more exciting early in his career and he's a great fighter even though a cheat but I never watch Jon and think he looks next level... maybe other than the Shogun fight. He's just very well rounded and consistant.

Keep finishing top shelf competition. Quality first then quantity. Topuria has 3 finishes of former champs. They don’t need to be former champs but accomplished fighters still in prime. Tony no longer would count or worse BJ.

Try and keep up.

This thread, specifically, is why I think you were dropped on your head (yes, i originally said took an h bomb, same damn thing). I didn't and won't read the other. This right here is what that comment was based on. The narrative lives as long as the thread does.

Simple enough this time, cupcake?

“His path to passing Jon for GOAT”
Win every single title fight he has for the next 12 years then come back and talk to me 😂

Impossible, the competition in MMA is way too high nowadays...
Jones fought old midgets, like Rashad, Machida, Vitor, Chael and so on... None of them would be a top 10 LHW today

He's not moving to welterweight.

Even if you doubt that he would beat anybody there.
He would just need a favourable opponent.
If any of those guys snatches the title, he has a winnable matchup and defenses

#2 Sean Brady at 18-1 and is only 1 inch taller. Topuria is 4 years younger and beats him after adding muscle.
#1 Belal and Topuria would beat him. Belal is 37
#4 Edwards can't deal with pressure strikers
#5 Usman is old
#8 Buckley as as tall as Topuria
