'Top Ten Most Effective Martial Arts' (Video)

1- BJJ (and catch wrestling)
2- Wrestling
3- Kickboxing (including Muay Thai & Sanshou)
4- Boxing
5- Sambo
6- Taï chi chuan (because it can be interesting to add a "internal" martial art non totally devoted to the destruction of other humans beings)
7- Fencing (because a lot of martial arts include weapons)
8- Archery (see above)
9- Shooting (see above)
10- Gladiator reenactment (basically knife fightling with shield, cool stuff)

He makes a good point about the Shaolin monks and how they train though

No he doesnt the shaolin monks are nothing more than cosplayers doing circus tricks. The cultural revolution got rid of any genuine kung fu from that place.

list is silly.
unarmed 1 on 1 bjj will always win.

If I have my longsword my HEMA training will let me beat anyone unarmed.
if I have a gun its just who is a better marksman/tactician.

I do Karate, ju jitsu and HEMA.

Mainly just because they are fun. Same for archery.
Do what you find fun and regardless you will be far above the layperson in unarmed combat.

Post reminded me of this ruthless Aoki finish:

I remember how much my head would hurt after the first few days of banging it against other's heads in wrestling practice. Couple weeks in wouldn't feel a thing, and would be more than willing to smash foreheads when tying up. Certainly felt like the nerves were dead.

It wasn't the nerves that were dead. It was your brain.
