Top 30 BJJ fighters of all time in MMA history

If you think that AS' BJJ is better, let alone much better than GSP then you know nothing about BJJ.

Who did AS sub? Hendo and Sonnen (the guy with probably the worst sub defense in mma history)

GSP subbed Bisping and Hughes. Two guys pretty hard to submit.

Keep reaching for the stars, PeeWee. Most GSP fangirls wouldn't even suggest his BJJ is anywhere near Silva's, let alone top 30 in MMA. Leave it to you to go full retard.

Hughes and Bisping are trumped by Lutter alone. Never mind Hendo, who has only been submitted by both Nogs, Silva, and Cormier, and likely has the toughest resume in the sport. Hughes was subbed by Hallman twice, and put to sleep by Newton. Bisping getting RNC'd after being rocked at almost 40 years old ,and having one eye, doesn't make GSP's BJJ top 30. For fuck's sake.

I know. I clarify it in my thread while talking about why and who i omitted.
It is still dumb you left him off. Are you the same guy that left Slampage off a list of 60 wrestlers in mma?

edit * not trying to be a dick just think your criteria waters your lists down

Shields were wrestler.
Machida....his bjj sucks. His sumo maybe

Shields has some BJJ creds, bro. Machida is a black belt, but I'm not sure how well he's done in BJJ. I know he was submitted by Shields though, oddly enough, which is probably why I mentioned them together.

Hendo was also rocked when Silva submitted him. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen, but I think Silva had fucked up Lutter pretty good before the sub too. Controlling position is a measure of you bjj, and no one besides Khabib has done better then GSP at that.

Which of the two is better? I dunno. I’m sure Anderson and GSP would have a very entertaining and competitive grappling match. If I had to put money on it, I would bet that GSP would win on points. You can’t answer the question simply by trying to mma math who subbed who.

GSP had great top control and passing, no doubt, but I attribute that more to his wrestling than BJJ. Silva has definitely shown better work off his back, and I believe Lutter had him mounted before being triangled and elbowed into submission.

I wasn't comparing their BJJ prowess by who they submitted in some MMATH thesis, that was just an offshoot strawman bullshit thing that Thunderdamus tried pushing for a sec.

You are one clueless motherfucker. GSP's BJJ is better than Silva but you're far too ignorant to realize it.

You newbie have to check the video of GSP rolling with Estima.

Id say he belongs in top 30 though even ahead of some gracies.

I think he won adcc or mundials. Was UFC champ. Lost to Hendo in Pride final.

You seem angry whenever you spout your delusions from fantasy island. GSP does not have better BJJ than Anderson Silva, nor his he a top in 30 all-time BJJ guy in MMA.

Good list but the order is very arguable though.

And you have Arona way too low no one from the top to the end of your list could even score a point on Arona let alone beat him in an ADCC type setting

Werdum won Adcc twice and Mundials twice

Maia win Adcc once.

You tell me how Maia has better BJJ credentials.

I personally prefer Maia's BJJ record compared to Werdum, who fought at 221lbs +

Maia had to face prime Roger Gracie, prime Jacare, prime Xande Ribeiro, prime Marcelo Garcia (lighter but a damn phenom), prime Cyborg, young Lovato Jr, Romulo Barral and Braulio Estima. All these guys were physically in their primes, and fighting at their natural weight except for MG who can out-point you on pure technique.

Maia basically fought during one of the most TOUGHEST BJJ talent pools in grappling history.

Werdum's 2 World Titles and ADCC victory don't mean as much compared to Maia's quality, at least to me.

Dave Herman because JuiJitsu does not work on him.

I rank maia over werdum. Werdums wins are outstanding, but maias no gi bjj that he applies in mma should be the goal of any bjj artist who wants to try mma
This. Werdum is also a much better striker. Maia succeeded strictly with BJJ. His wrestling itself wasn't even great.
