Top 10 best HW of all time

I’d agree with that. I feel like ngannou hasn’t shown enough diversity in his skill sets to be ranked so highly purely based on skill.

Most dominant HW striker to date? Perhaps. But tough to give him titles based on overall skill sets when guys like Fedor were doing literally everything
It’s about winning. Who do you see taking Ngannou down and keeping him there? He displayed very good wrestling against Stipe last time they fought

FFS...
People having Ngannou at the top of the list when he hasn't defended a single time.... What a Joke...

Francis ranked wayyyy too high here. We’ve already seen a clear path to beating him. I’m sure he’s improved some, but what we saw against Stipe last time out was due more to Stipe’s decline than Francis improving, imo.
1. Fedor Emelianenko
2. Stipe Miocic
3. Daniel Cormier
4. Cain Velasquez
5. Alistair Overeem
6. Junior Dos Santos
7. Minotauro Nogueira
8. Francis Ngannou
9. Josh Barnett
A much better list than I would expect from you. Wow!

He hadn't shown a lot of improvements before the Stipe rematch. Look at how he bullrushed Rozenstruick with windmill punches. It worked, but because he has power. It wasn't a skillful performance. The Stipe fight was the first fight where he really showed a little more, and people were rightly impressed. But to go from there to ranking him #1 HW of all time is laughable.

As of right now, he shouldn't be on anyone's top ten HW of all time list. As I said in my first comment, I wish him success. I hope he can successfully defend the belt.
I agree with you. For the purposes of this thread I put him #8 just based on his freakish power. I think that would carry him through quite a few hypothetical matches. But generally he’s overrated. In a couple years, he’ll likely be viewed the same way Carwin is.

No, he won’t. Carwin was never the champ, he didn’t beat as many top level guys and wasn’t even as big or athletic as Ngannou is.

I don’t know that any of that is true though. Carwin was Interim champ at a time when that actually meant something. He was pretty athletic actually and was an NCAA Div 2 wrestler. His career was short-ish (ont 14 fights) so it’s true that he doesn’t have as many names on his resume as Francis. But it’s important to keep this in perspective. Francis has a resume FULL of old, past prime HWs: Arlovski, Overeem, Cain, JDS, even Stipe in their most recent fight. Rozenstruik is kind of “meh” at best. The Blaydes wins are good. He’s an absolutely terrifying puncher, maybe scariest of all time. But his resume is being way overblown imho.

lol

Randlemam
Coleman
Kerr

They all take Francis down and keep him there...

After much thought and deliberation, I can say that I'm satisfied with this list:

01. Fedor Emelianenko
02. Stipe Miocic
03. Daniel Cormier
04. Francis N'Gannou
05. Randy Couture
06. Frank Mir
07. Cain Velasquez
08. Antonio Nogueira
09. Josh Barnett
10. Semmy Schilt

This is not a HW GOAT thread, that’s a discussion between Fedor and Stipe. This list is based purely on skill and athleticism, who would be the favourite to win against everyone else.

#1 Francis Ngannou

2021 version of Ngannou might be the most dangerous man to ever have competed in MMA. His size, power and athleticism combined with his underrated striking and now improved wrestling and fight IQ is an almost unbeatable combination.

#2 DC

Strikeforce DC was a beast. Best wrestler to ever compete at HW, exceptionally fast, good boxing and elite ground game.

#3 Stipe Miocic

Stipe that fought Ngannou the first time was probably the most balanced HW ever. Not the best at anything, but very good across the board- striking, grappling, size, power, durability and speed.

#4 Fedor Emelianenko

Fedor was absolutely the best fighter of his era and way ahead of his time. Super agile and fast, elite judo throws and good ground game. Not extremely technical in his striking, but very effective because of his speed and power. A bit undersized for a HW though.

#5 Cyril Gane

Still hard to judge his actual level, because he hasn’t faced enough high level competition, but thus far he has looked as the most technical striker to ever compete at HW. His footwork is unbelievable for a guy his size. Great fight IQ and physical attributes. His lack of KO power might be his only weakness.

#6 Cain Velasquez

The best pressure fighter of all time at HW. He was grinding his opponents like no one else did before. His stand up had a lot of holes though.

#7 Alistair Overeem

Ubereem was a scary beast with amazing striking and very grappling as well. Unfortunately for him, his glass chin didn’t allow him to the best.

#8 JDS

Prime JDS was a killer. Great striker with heavy hands, but not as elite on the ground. As good as he was for his time, he probably wouldn’t look good against guys like Ngannou or DC though.

#9 Fabricio Werdum

Best BJJ specialist with a decent stand up and good size for a HW.

#10 Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

Big Nog and Werdum are interchangeable on this list as they share many similarities in their strengths. Prime Big Nog could take a beating like no one else though.

Shit list

1) Fedor

3) Francis
4) Cain
5) DC
6) Werdum
7) Big Nog

Well Francis is taller, longer reach, bigger and leaner than Carwin. That’s a fact.

Stipe is amazing win.
Overeem was a great win.
Rozenstruick isn’t “meh” at all. His only 2 loses are to Ngannou and Gane. It’s almost like saying CroCop was meh, because he lost to Fedor and Nog.

Having Gane as #5 is far too premature. What if he has a really bad tendency that will be exploited and he goes 0-3 in his next fights? What if he has no chin? What if he's just not good enough to win the belt?

Nah we haven't seen enough of him

OP is troll.

I’m not. I already knew Gane would be a top contender or a champ after his debut.
I was calling Usman the #2 WW of all time when he beat Woodley, because of the skills he showed. With his improved striking and would say he has moved to #1.
I knew Izzy will be big after his debut and I have no doubt that Khamzat has all the tools to be the champ. If I see talent, I give it the credit it deserves

Of course you are.

Fedor
Stipe
Shane Carwin
Gane (right now, could go higher)

That's the end of my list.
Francis ran from a drug test and has been whipped 3 times in his prime. DC got beat by a light heavyweight and is an eye poker.

<{1-10}>
Losing to Ngannou and Gane is not even in the same galaxy as losing to Fedor and Nog. That’s insane. Gane especially has done nothing to be compared with those 2 all time greats.
Stipe was the champ, so it’s certainly a good win in that respect. But we saw them fight a few years back when Stipe was still in good form, and we all saw how that went. Rozenstruik has not impressed me. He was beaten by old Overeem in every second of that fight except the last second (which was pretty gnarly, so credit to him). It’s a decent win, as Overeem is always dangerous, but let’s not overrate it. Reem was wayyy pst his best days by then. Rozen beat shot old JDS and Arlovski. Lost to in-prime fighters.
