Dont be jealous. Just added conext of why I know Brazilian in bjj learn Spanish easily. It's much harder for them to learn English .well if you're a black belt in bjj, that changes everything!

They’re basically the same language…Verdum has good spanish considering he speaks Portuguese.

Portuguese is very different from Spanish and Portugal is not a province of Spain. Portuguese (PT) is different from Brazilian (BR) Portuguese, while we do understand each other perfectly, there are a lot of differences in words, how some are written and the accent.
