Media Tony Ferguson speaking Spanish

Bro.. Portuguese is my mother tongue. I lived in Spain for 10 years.

Take it from me.

I believe you but seems like you don't believe me about all the Brazilians I know who pick up Spanish easy lol

The languages are different but there are huge similarities between writing and reading. A native portuguese speaker could understand in literature format or could write in portuguese and have it be readable and intelligible for a native spanish speaker and vice versa.

It's not. I'm a Blackbelt in bjj and speak Spanish and Portuguese. I'm around alot of Brazilians who pick up Spanish very easy.

Yeah its not like learning chinese, spanish, russian and arabic ane say knowing all those plus English. Those languages are so different from one another that would be truly impressive. The issue for native chinese, arabic and english speakers (and japanese) is there is not another easy mutually intelligible language they can learn. But romance language speakers and slavic speakers have the ease if they choose of similar structured and intelligible languages. Same with pure Germanic speakers

(Portuguese)

But, despite this variety of possibilities that the voice possesses, it would be a very poor instrument of communication if there were no more to it. Man's capacity for expression would not have any more tools than that of animals. The voice alone is for man just a formless medium, which to become a perfect communication instrument must be subjected to certain processes. The manipulations that the voice undergoes are the "joints". (English)

My wife is brazilian. She speaks almost like she was born here, but then again, some places in northwest Spain (mainly Galicia and Asturias) have languages and dialects that have a lot in common with Portuguese, so it's even easier for Portuguese speakers to pick up.

I think everyone can agree that a Portuguese speaker picking up Spanish is not as impressive as say, a German speaker picking up Vietnamese.

I hate how this thread changed from a „Tony is the type of guy-thread“ to a cultural bilingual discussion between a few portugesw-spanish speakers who get their arguments from google to win a virtual discussion on sherdog…

well if you're a black belt in bjj, that changes everything!

I can't edit because of the dubz and I said he speaks good spanish so I'm not sure what you're trying to get at sir.
Ik… that’s why it’s not a fair comparison to Tony who never lived in any spanish speaking area.

Tony's spanish is just fine. He was just having a tough noche.

Shouldn't it be something like "the calendar is anxious... because it knows its days are numbered"? - Why would you be afraid of something that's going to die..?

It's easier for portuguese people(portuguese speakers) to understand spanish than for spanish to understand/speak portuguese.

I can't speak any Spanish. How is Tony's Spanish when he tries to speak it? Is it heavily accented? Full of grammatical errors?

Verdum has good spanish considering he speaks Portuguese.
Fabricio lived in Spain like six years and holds an Spanish passport. He competed in the early Euros (Advanced class) even before he got his passport and caused harvoc there. He fought under both flags in that period.

He is also from Porto Alegre, in Southern Brazil, close to the triple border, were tha accent is more simmilar. In fact his Spanish should be even better, but he could communicate made zero effort. I met the guy a couple of times in those days. Nice funny guy if you didn't cross him. Incidentally, he studied Spanish in school.

Ferguson doesn't speak Spanish for shyte, it's hilarious.

Yeah, I know that what's your point sir?

According to that rant that Hicardo Arona gave back in the day when he shown the word his training in nature, a "Faixa Preta" is the shit, and should be able to both protect and satifiy his GF take care of his family, good at fisticuffs, be a good friend, be ready for any mission (sic) and do a ton of things unrelated with the art himself. Maybe he's a Ricardo student.

Besides a little flexing is not a mortal sin,
