Tony Ferguson has ONE top-5 win in the UFC

His competion was world class. Thomson pretty much beat Bendo with one arm and killed Nate Diaz. Something no one else can say and Nate has fought pretty much everyone there is to fight.
Barboza absolutely murdered Benny in their fight. Styles make fights and such a big winstreak is impressive no matter what the ever shitty hindsight lovers want to say.

I swear these hidsight sheep build altars and bang eachother behind them to please their lord every night. Thats how much they seem to love it.

I love Tony as much as anybody else but his win streak was way overblown at the time anyway.

He was struggling badly with borderline washed fighters like Cerrone and Pettis. Both kicked his ass until they gassed and he took over. Pettis gassed AND broke his hand which was unfortunate.

A complete unknown in Lando almost finished him multiple times and Vanatta has gone on to show he's just about UFC caliber at best. He's never going to make waves at either weightclass he fights in.

Even Danny Castillo, who was good but not great or ever a contender, he was arguably robbed vs Tony.

This + the illegal kick concussed Barboza and changed the fight. He cheated a few other times as well.

Tony was amazing and I'm a huge fan but I didn't think he could beat khabib.

He had a couple of nice top-10 wins against Thomson and Edson, but, Tony's win over Rafael Dos Anjos was his lone top-5 win in the UFC.
Yes, he was very good and his win streak was VERY impressive, but is it not possible that he was hugely overestimated and overrated?
There are people that still SWEAR that he would have beaten Khabib.

I realize he's a bit older, but once he started fighting the REAL cream of the crop in Gaethje, Charles, Beneil, etc., look what happened.
Islam is the same thing. 1 top 5 wins, zero top 10 wins.

Tony cheated massively in his best win against RDA also. Always overrated in terms of ability. Still one of the greatest fighters to watch but massively over rated as a threat to Khabib. He also cheated hugely against Barboza. His three biggest attributes were his confidence (shot after Justin), toughness (drops with age in everyone) and cardio (again drops in age with everyone). He massively over achieved given his actual technical ability and retarded training methods.

Cowboy #4
Pettis #8
Lee #7
RDA #2
Barboza #6
Thomson #11

Seems a decent enough run.
Good list. The Thomson fight you have backwards, Thomson was ranked #9 (Tony himself was #11 for that fight)

He was never any good.

That's how we do it, right?
If this conversation is too difficult for you, you needn't participate.
At no point did I suggest he wasn't any good. In fact, if you had read my post, I was complimentary of him.
I simply raised the question of whether we judged his win streak accurately and if it was as good as we thought it was at the time.
I can't tell if you're not smart or if you're just in your feelings. Either way, get well soon. We're all cheering for you.

He beat everyone put in front of him, but the people listening in his walls plotted against him, and placed a mirror in his path. Look into it.
