Tony Ferguson has ONE top-5 win in the UFC

I love Tony as much as anybody else but his win streak was way overblown at the time anyway.

He was struggling badly with borderline washed fighters like Cerrone and Pettis. Both kicked his ass until they gassed and he took over. Pettis gassed AND broke his hand which was unfortunate.

A complete unknown in Lando almost finished him multiple times and Vanatta has gone on to show he's just about UFC caliber at best. He's never going to make waves at either weightclass he fights in.

Even Danny Castillo, who was good but not great or ever a contender, he was arguably robbed vs Tony.
Cerrone and Pettis "both kicked his ass until they gassed." Interesting bit of revisionist history. Tony won rounds 1 and 2 against Pettis and finished him in the 3rd. And Tony won round 2 against Cerrone and finished him in the 3rd. And even if he "took over" after they gassed, who do you think forced them to gas? This is the kind of nonsense that demonstrates lack of credibility and eliminates the need to read the rest of what you wrote.

Tony was pretty good, it's not fair to judge a guy for losing at 36 and onward. I think it's safe to say if Gaethje, Poirier, Beneil or Dariush hang around until they're 36-37 they probably will be catching constant Ls vs top guys too.

I do personally feel the Ferguson we saw beat a prime RDA was every bit as good as Poirier, Gaethje or Beneil.

There was never an actual break, just saiyan

Washed Pettis? Same guy that smoked Chiesa & KO'd Wonderboy.

He had a couple of nice top-10 wins against Thomson and Edson, but, Tony's win over Rafael Dos Anjos was his lone top-5 win in the UFC.
Yes, he was very good and his win streak was VERY impressive, but is it not possible that he was hugely overestimated and overrated?
There are people that still SWEAR that he would have beaten Khabib.

I realize he's a bit older, but once he started fighting the REAL cream of the crop in Gaethje, Charles, Beneil, etc., look what happened.
You do realize Tony was 36 when he started losing, right? Name a single LW who was 36 or older and beating the kind of guys Tony lost to. The only current top 10 LWs who are 36 or older are Chandler and RDA, neither of whom have had a top 5 win in more than 5 years.

Do I think Tony would have beaten Khabib? Probably not (although I certainly would have loved to see that fight). And I'm not even a Tony fan. But the premise of your argument is complete nonsense.

Let's show El Cucuy some love here people. Tony's 12 fight win streak was insane. And I am one of those people that think Tony would have sub'd Khabib had they just fought the first time. The Gaethje fight was short notice for him, and that fight forever changed Tony, mentally, emotionally, physcially. Was never the same after that. And father time took his toll as well. Tony was a fun fighter, game for any fight, was fun at the pressers, weird AF which made him more likeable for me, and seemingly a good dude outside of fighting. Sending him my positive energy for this fight. Might be he last, so let's just enjoy. TonyBless. Shades and blades baby!

He beat who was put in front of him at the time. Unfortunately Father Time remains undefeated and when you get your soul taken from you in a fight at 36, that’s a wrap. That year he took off between Cerrone and Gaethje didn’t do him any favors and he didn’t even look like the same person anymore. It’s sad that everyone attempts to use MMAth around here and 100% of the time the person using it looks bad doing it. Is he a hall of famer? No. But his win streak was pretty damn impressive nonetheless.

Tony was never supposed to fight Gaethje. He should sit back and wait for Khabib, 12 straight wins, he deserved it.

But he decided to fight Gaethje cutting weight 2 times in one week.

Tony is simply not smart.

I don't think he would've beaten khabibs, but he was THE other dominant lw at the time. It was a very intriguing fight.

No one gives a fuck about arbitrary rankings. At the end of the day, he has wins over Barboza, RDA, and Pettis; fuck what number they had next to their name.

Literally nobody still thinks he would have beat Khabib

Tony was an okay fighter with alot of heart and toughness but in reality his 12 fight win streak at the time was padded to the maximum. Never fought a top 3 ranked guy other than an RDA coming off a KO loss and never fought anyone with decent boxing until he got exposed by Justin on short notice

Tony's biggest credential was winning the interim title...against Kevin Lee

Gonna need you to rewatch those Cerrone and Pettis fights pal. 10 minutes with Tony had both of them looking like they were on death's doorstep. They didn't "kick his ass until they gassed." HE gassed THEM while kicking their asses all over the octagon
