Ian Garry’s wins are aging like fine wine. At the time, people rolled their eyes at the Prates and MVP wins, calling them boring wins over b+ level opponents, now those fights look like strokes of genius. He showed real ring generalship against very dangerous guys. Suddenly, his record looks like a series of dangerous scalps that prove he belongs at the top.

And then there’s Bo. The clear, obvious answer to Chimaev. Nobody knows how Khamzat reacts when a better wrestler puts him flat on his back, over and over. Bo’s the one guy who can do that, and once Khamzat’s scrambling, he’s wide open for the signature Bo Nickal overhand rocket.

Middleweight about to become a long-running game of rock paper scissors between Chimaev, RDR, and Bo.

Wait... Bo Nickal????

tonights biggest winner imo is Khamzat. Ended Dricus' 11 fight win streak in dominant fashion and won gold
Didn’t intend to take away from Khamzat (and I agree with you huge night for him) but it’s very clear to me that Bo is the answer to the Khamzat question. We’ve never seen K fight from the bottom or fight moving backwards dodging a world class overhand.

I think Khamzat defeats anyone else in the division not named Bo.

i don't think nickal is anywhere near a title shot, and even if he was gifted one, he'd likely get subbed.
I think Bo is game enough to fight Khamzat in Abu Dhabi on short notice. He might not be the most deserving right now but he can grab a title shot by being the most game.

and usman's win over khazmat cant forget that
Definitely it’s a shame that Usman is probably too old and injured to triumph in the rematch. I also think Khamzat’s health was a factor in that fight though, he wasn’t at his best.

Bo is a more credentialed (in wrestling), bigger version of Usman. I will grant less experienced and Usman is probably the more dynamic striker but he doesn’t have Bo’s nuclear overhand which is thrown with Olympian speed.

Keep reaching for those grapes

Those fights were boring and nobody said that about Prates

Ah man, you ruined your troll job after the first reply

People forget, Bo and Chimaev have already exchanged words before. The beef is there. And yes yes, Bo’s coming off a loss, but RDR won’t take a short-notice fight in Abu Dhabi, everyone knows that. That’s the easy excuse to skip him and others for Bo.

The timing lines up perfectly for Bo. And don’t forget, Khamzat is under serious political pressure to headline in Abu Dhabi. That’s why the silence around Bo is so loud (and granted not much time has passed) but I think it’s because Khamzat knows exactly what that overhand plus the wrestling threat means for him. It is the one weapon he can’t bully through.

I’ll be proven right when Ali calls out Izzy.

Weak troll shit

I should have realised post one. But the replies by TS since then are very poor troll shtick
I genuinely think the matchup with Chimaev is going to turn into a wrestling match. If nothing else, because of Khamzat’s (and Bo’s) pride. Khamzat will want to prove he’s just as good a wrestler (I.e he’s aware of the gigantic wrestling credential gap), and that plays right into Bo’s strengths.

You can fairly argue Bo hasn’t put the full MMA package together yet, but denying his wrestling credentials is just crazy.

Same with the overhand. No, he hasn’t literally won every fight with it, but it is an absolute bomb and the threat of it has been a factor in all his wins. Even in decisions and submissions you can see opponents freezing, second-guessing, because they know it could come at any moment. To brush that off is to ignore what’s actually happening in those fights.

I don’t think Bo is the most complete fighter in the division. RDR is clearly his kryptonite, and there may be others who can give him problems. But against Chimaev? He’s kryptonite in return. That’s the only point I’m making.

What does Bo Nickal has for Khamzat ? Folk style wrestling credential ? That means nothing. Khamzat is leagues above him in MMA grappling.

You think Nickal has DDP's grit, heart and submission defense ? Don't make us laugh, DDP eats Nickal for breakfast.

Bo is not cracking the top 5 anytime soon anyway so he has zero shot at those guys in the first place.
