Should be able to make weight then.Dude does triathlons for fun. Relax people
Nick made it pretty clear today he really doesn't want to fight again and has resentment for MMA in general.
"All the people around me and all the money and the sponsors, they won't let me get away from fighting," Diaz said. "There's things I could do, but that's not gonna work out. I might as well just go and take my punches. ... I don't want to look back and say, 'Why did I not just do it?' I don't feel great. I feel great to fight. I don't feel great about everything [else]. If I don't do this, I don't know how I'm going to feel about myself."
Diaz, 38, said during his time off he had plans to open a gym and teach students, and maybe even travel around some and do seminars. But he said things didn't work out with the business partners he was dealing with and that the plans were "fake." That is what led him back to fighting.
"It's just what I do," Diaz said. "I tried to get away from it, but really it's just kind of inevitable."
...
"I'm going in there to win," Diaz said of Saturday's bout against Lawler. "Do I feel confident? I never do. I never have. I always feel like I'm going to get trashed out there. Every fight I've ever done. 'How do you feel against Robbie Lawler?' I feel like I'm going to get the s--- beat out of me. And even when I win, I get beat up worse"

This is short but worth reading / watching.
Conor hasn't won a fight at lightweight since 2016 and he's somehow ranked in the division. He got knocked out by Poirer in the second round with zero controversy and they immediately ran a rematch.
Nick fought GSP coming off a LOSS to Condit.
The UFC runs this thing like the circus coming to town, not a sport. If it were up to me I'd make rankings based on a formula and matches based on brackets, but I didn't have a few billion to buy it so they do as they please.
Be ZERO surprised if they put together Nick vs Usman if he pulls out a big win. Of course it wouldn't be fair or make sense, but that is irrelevant under the current management.
How recently has he done one? Anybody know?Dude does triathlons for fun. Relax people

???I think he just doesn't want to. He might be able to do it though.
Sigh, this is gonna be ugly on Saturday. Still rooting for him though.
???
Want??? shoulda thought of that befopre
Might be able to?? the fight is at 185 now.
Think of what? These are inexcusable errors, and the fight is only going ahead because of the money involved. Conor fighting LWs at WW was stupid, and due to priveledge. Hey all you guys have to cut weigfht, except for Conor and Nick. They dont have to.He probably did think of it before. It's kinda scummy that he let Lawler know it so late, but I do understand not wanting to do it also. The whole weightcutting thing is kinda BS to begin with and Nick is at a stage that he doesn't need or want to deal with BS. Doesn't need as evidenced that the UFC agreed to the weight change and Lawler doesn't see it as a problem either. It's kind of the same thing as Conor wanting to fight LWs at WW. I thought the idea behind that was solid, but as it came from Conor, it obviously got a lot of hate.
Yes, he fights at 185, doesn't mean he couldn't at least try to cut to 170 and might be able to make it too. He doesn't really even seem to try it though, so who knows for sure if he can't do it?

The bout agreement was signed for 170 lbs. Its' # 1 bullshit to try and change ANYTHING 3 days out when your opponent will most likely have to accept these unfair terms. The point is they shouldn't either, and change has to be made somehow to establish a system where they don't anymore. Which could be made by people with influence or privilege setting examples, and showing that it could be the future. Of course, it's not fair if they only don't have to and others do, but the whole system isn't fair to begin with, so if there would be a transition stage that isn't fair either but in another way, I think it's worth it for the end goal.
Also, Nick isn't in the race for the belt, I would think, so it's not even that unfair because he isn't competing with the rest in that sense.

This is the mind of a guy that did what he was good at and not what he wanted to do for his whole life. He took some time to do some soul searching (i.e. being lost and finding your path), realized what he wanted to do all along, and now he has a goal to work towards. That goal is not fighting, it's teaching martial arts to troubled kids like he once was. Fighting for Diaz, is and always was simply a means to an end. Hating on someone being honest about that is pathetic. The mind of a depressed man.
The man needs a therapist. If he had taken care of his mental health, maybe he'd have grown mentally over these hurdles 10 years later.
