Gsp wasn’t a huge finisher. We all know this. Still the best ever at dealing out long, sustained beatings.
I kinda agree with you, kinda. Georges out struck pretty much everyone he ever fought and he out grappled pretty much everyone he ever fought, same as Fedor. GSP neutralized his opponents strengths.
Expecting a fighter to get finishes when a fighter fights safe for 10 years is more unrealistic.
Well, he did finish Matt Hughes, Matt Serra and BJ Penn after losing his title to Serra.
It really wasn't until 2 or 3 years after his Serra loss that his decision streak started.
He did, but not quite the same. I mean like Fedor kickboxing Crocop and sitting in nogs guard beating him up.. Gsp wouldn't have done that, because he fought smart and safe. He could have outstruck hardy, but why risk it? Same with Alves. I don't say this as an insult, but his biggest fans always take it that way. Not sure why. GSP is pretty much the only goat whose legacy hasn't been tainted in some way, let's just be happy about that and not try to pretend he was aggressively pursuing finishes because he just wasn't. And that's OK.
I don't think anything. He was a boring ass lay n prayer his whole career. One finish of Bisping didn't wipe out the shitty taste of his lay n pray career. He has the most strikes landed in the UFC, and the same number of submission attempts as BJJ wizard Demaian Maia.
He's landed the 4th most significant strikes in UFC history, and a significant strike defense of 73.1%
and those stats are while he's fighting top contenders in one of the most stacked divisions ever, cleaning his division out twice.

It's not like all of his decision victories were boring shit, either. He beat the living fuck out of Fitch, handled Alves pretty impressively, and punched Josh Koscheck in the face for 25 minutes. The Shields fight was pretty bad and I remember the Condit and Diaz fights only being exciting when GSP was getting tagged.
<{gspressed}>Those stats don't mean shit to those of us who suffered through his fights live. His fight with Hardy was probably how he tied Maia for subs, that was funny stuff that night. And in boxing anything besides a jab is considered a sig strike so I wouldn't put much into that stat either. I'm sure he also holds the record for getting his face rearranged by Jake Shields, no one else has accomplished that.
GSP isn't so different from me though cause I couldn't finish his fights either.
The shields fight was bad because Shields was using the jon jones strategy, Condit and Diaz were boring because they had nothing for him other than one or two brief moments of success
seeing bjj black belt nick diaz have no idea what to do on the ground with gsp was pretty funny tbh, i still remember people saying Diaz would sub him from the guard
Remember after the fight when nick accused George of spying because he defended his rolling kneebar attempts?! Lmao suddenly he's palhares gonna go out there and kneebar GSP with a very low percentage sub.
All stats aside, of all the many years I ordered, hosted, and watched UFC ppv's, I can only remember 3 times that my company fell asleep. 1 of those times was Machida vs Henderson, the other 2 were GSP fights, take that how you want.
