TN state senator compares obamacare to holocaust

Hmm. I'm asking you to explain why you think that's a strawman. If that's not a good enough question for you, maybe you should refrain from the character attacks, no?

My point was, is that ideological or not? None of what you mentioned was the point of my post.

So I said there was no similarity and no reason to bring up Yee in this thread except to distract. You responded by saying that Yee is really bad. Ok. So? Does that mean every thread should be about him?

Why don't these idiots ever learn?

I get it. Republicans are horrified by the idea that more people will get health coverage. But the holocaust is one of the worst things that has ever happened in human history. Comparing anything or anyone to Hitler, the holocaust or Nazi's is almost always a mistake, unless you're talking about killing a lot of people. What a dumb ass.

There's one good takeaway, I guess. Anyone who compares Obamacare to the holocaust, Obama to Hitler or Democrats to Nazi's is a moron and can be completely disregarded.

Quite honestly, yes absolutely, I've been in the South, Midwest, and Mountain regions the last few months and the TN thing got much more exposure.

Maybe it is a difference between Beltway and Middle America coverage or one of us has cognitive bias, hey could just as well be me, but where I am or to my perception the TN story got way way more coverage.

I am just confused why you brought it up in this thread as opposed to, you know, one of these.

You do not get the parallel, so there is really no point.

Ditto this guy.

A Sherdog thread has nothing to do with the point of the matter, but I digress, the posters who "get it" have already gotten it.

So you are unfamiliar with the purpose of a "topic"?

Therefore a topic where Jack V. Savage mentions people are hypocrites for saying it is not a big deal (not exactly pertinent), is lampooned because of another story that is more serious allegedly (by me and others) is getting less play time is mute?

No, and lol, the people who got the point have already gotten it. Carry on and enjoy yourselves. By all means. ;)

You could make a thread about it. Its really easy.

I answered your question.

I'd say you responded. I wouldn't say you answered. Maybe somebody else can point it out to me then if I'm too dim to perceive it.

What do you think about the comments the TS was referring to? Agree? Disagree? Media should have covered them up? What?

I answered it in the first post with essentially "who cares?". The guy was correct that coercing people to sign up for something and then crowing about how many people signed up is dubious. Using holocaust rhetoric continues to be counterproductive so I'd avoid it. The bottom line is that it's such an inconsequential soundbite so what is there really to say? That's why it's far more interesting to discuss why people give a shit than the merits of his comparison.

It seems like people interested in the truth here are fighting with ghosts. For months, we hear people (IH included) asserting that there was no way enrollment numbers would reach their projections and that the demographic mix would be unfavorable, and the whole system was going to collapse. So it was noted in response to those fears after the data came in that, in fact, enrollments exceeded projections, the demographic mix was as expected, and the system is thriving.

So what was the response? "Oh, shit, I guess we were wrong. It's great to see that things are going better than we thought they would." :) No. It was, "so what? It's bad that people are signing up rather than paying the fee." If people just oppose the law on principle, they should say that and stop wasting everyone's (that is, everyone who actually takes what others say at face value and cares about accuracy) time with all these phony issues.

Did you feel the same way when people on the left were saying that Bush = Hitler?

Is the furor over one guy not admitting things are better than expected or is it a piling on because the guy used Obama in the same sentence as a Nazi reference? Either way it seems like microscopic potatoes.

Until they have politicians with clarity and those following them no leftover baggage how can we take any seriously. :icon_lol: Surround yourselves with talent politicos you will need it.

This isn't like a story that's getting covered. It's not being joked about on talk shows. There aren't talking heads discussing it. There's no furor.

I'm just pointing out that the goalposts are being moved constantly because the right doesn't want to say that they just object to "redistribution" (i.e., any policy that benefits the non-rich) on moral grounds. Instead there are all these half-assed complaints that supposedly have practical grounds, but when they're shown to be ill-founded, the arguments just shift. Things would be so much better if people would just be honest.

If this clown and others like him had made that comment from the beginning instead of latching on to every piece of news that made it seem to ignorant readers that enrollments wouldn't hit their numbers, a lot of time would have been saved.

I actually would get "offended" when it happened to Bush. As a jew I felt it was disrespectful to the people who experienced the holocaust for which I have family that luckily escaped. Its disrespectful and if anything just a lazy way to try to insight anger and win arguments.

Damn this thread for manufacturing controversy. :)

I agree about goal posts getting moved. I'm not sure what everyone's rationale for opposition is.
