I would personally prefer to deport any and all illegal immigrants(more like take the necessary steps to achieve self-deportation in most cases), but I will say that as far as non-European immigrants go, Mexicans are very compatible with American society. And if the alternative is what's going on in Europe, I'll take Mexicans all day every day.

There's some excellent literature on how birthright citizenship is meant to avoid a permanent underclass. (and is a big difference between the british common law approach and the continental (french) approach.)
