Title fight earned= good fight?? WTF

There are other contenders who would give more interesting fights and who might lose their shot because of this fight.

Might lose their shot...by losing to other contenders? Jones might be moving but the LHW belt is going nowhere. Gus and Machida probably don't want to fight Jones for the title.

These people who won't watch a card over one fight, are the same people who had no problem when Randy Couture "earned" a title shot against Tim Sylvia.

There are two kinds of mma fans.

There is the "mma is fighting" crowd.

And then there is the "mma is a sport" crowd.

Your answer to this question is pretty much determined by which camp you're in. (I'm the latter btw.)
Perfectly said.

For all his talk about "not makiing the same mistakes as boxing", Dana White is doing it.

True but as far as the two shools of thouthts that is very false.

MMA is martial arts martial arts=the art of fighting.

I guess that is the third camp and the one i belong too.

I'd rather watch this fight than Hendo-Jones as that would truly have been an epic mismatch. I still believe Sonnen will lose, quite easily, but at least he ALWAYS brings it. Hendo is aggressive but still very small compared to Jones and all he tries to do is land the H-bomb. That would never happen against Jones. Sonnen will do everything to grab a hold of Jones and try to take him down and I look forward to seeing this. Either I will scream out of joy if Sonnen gets the takedown, or I will enjoy watching Jones KO someone.

To me it doesn't really matter who Jones is fighting - either he will put on an amazing display, or I get to see him lose. Either way, it should be a fun fight to watch.

How would Hendo be more of a mismatch than Chael??? Hendo has proven that he can beat men way bigger than him and he can end a fight at any time with his hands. At the very leas he has a puncher's chance. Chael doesn't even have that.

You're taking it so literal it's a little dumb, but thanks for telling me the definition of martial arts anyway.

People want to protest this event in order to lower to overall PPV buys and force the UFC to match champions with top-ranked contenders.

Their plan fails on the fact that this event will be a financial success, no matter how many hardcore fans boycott or stream it. It also fails based on the fact that the "legitimate contenders" at LHW all pussed out when given the title match with Jones, so Chael and Vitor got gifts for the mere fact that they were not afraid of him.

they are? how did you come to that conclusion?

GSP Diaz was a bad fight and that wasn't earned so this will be a bad fight too. derp

It's okay for Randy to randomly get a title shot after two straight losses, a change in weight class, and a long layoff, but when there is a real money-making opportunity for the UFC in giving Chael another title shot, suddenly there is a problem.

Unless Jones pulls a Silva/Maia and refuses to engage, the fight will be just fine.

His point was most everyone on Sherdog says that was the most undeserved title shot ever. For you to say everyone's ok with it is ridiculous.
