The lose their shot because they lost another fight. Kind of like Hendo he had the shot against Bones before being injured but lost to Machida and now doesn't have his shot. Now obviously losing to the non champion proves he didn't deserve the shot in the first place, but he still had it and then lost it.

Kind of like now, Machida has the next shot, but if the winner of this fight gets injured and Machida jumps in and fights somebody else and loses, he won't get the shot that he would have gotten if this fight wasn't made.
 
This fight is Anderson/Bonnar level of retarded.
 
Not Jones, nor Shogun earned a title shot, they were favoured by the circumstances....yet they beat the champ.

I look at chael and what he has done which is way more then Brock had done mma.

Does Cheal deserve the shot no.

And then there is the "mma is a sport" crowd.

Point taken, I am pretty sure you could think of a couple of spots for me to take my indignation, no?

Sorry to hop on the soap box.

Its just at the end of the day thie entertainment all sports are entertainment except for the person competing.

So complaining in the fashion that many are is paralell to complaining about the kardashians or sruvivor.

Just seems silly and petty.

Generally earning a title shot means that you are good enough to challenge the champion and make a good fight. Any fight could end up being good, but odds are someone who has beaten the other top contenders in the division will put up a much better fight than a guy who hasn't fought in this division in years.

On top of that, you have to consider who the fighter is. Chael seemingly has no way to win this fight given his style. Had he beaten Gus and Glover on his way to Jones, then we'd be having a different conversation because he'd have earned it, and proved that he can beat top LHW fighters.
 
They're still going to watch
 
The one thing that saves this fight to me is Jones will enjoy methodically beating up Sonnen till he taps from being hit too much. I guess it's possible Sonnen gets a shot in but overall, I don't see Jones rushing to finish this fight.
