News Titanic Tours Submersible missing in atlantic ocean

The Titanic itself is corroding away to the point it could be basically gone by 2030.

There will be no sort of monument or structure to see before too long.

This isn't true. It was a myth propagated.....largely to generate interest for these tours. "Titanics going to be gone soon better pay us a shit ton of money to be able to see it!".

Yes the bow is going to collapse and it won't look the same but the wreck will be there in some capacity for centuries if not millenia as will most iron/steel wrecks.

Ironically enough the Titanic was discovered during a mission to locate the also failed USS Scorpion. 100 men died when the sub sank

Don't think that's true. The Scorpion sank south of the Azores, hundreds of miles from the Titanic. Think they used the same submersible though.

Maybe they can sink a crate of viagra down there to raise it.

It came out many years after the fact that the Titanic was used as a cover story to maintain sececy about the Scorpion wreck location and cause. The last thing the US wanted was for Russia to follow, find, and study US military / nuclear techniology. The captain of the mission freely admits all of this nowadays

I still cant believe the incompatancy in R&D. I'm sure the customers were told a very different story then the actual facts

What’s crazy is that the passengers were rich and they could’ve asked for opinions from other experts before shelling out $250k.

The one with the kid is the saddest. Could’ve been avoided.

At least they died quickly.

This is going to set deep sea tourism back significantly (and apparently Logitech as well).

I don't see why it would hurt Logitech, lol. it just got turned into a meme. Having said that, the quality of their products has gone down the shitter in the last 10 years in my experience.

For helping the Navy with the USS Scorpion , the captain was given around 2 weeks (i think) to try to find the Titanic, The dude smashed it out of the park

I doubt it would have audibly cracked before failing. At the point it's cracking it would have imploded instantly I assume before the sound could even get to their ears. I mean perhaps they would have heard something immediately before they died but I assume they would've been out like a light just from the impact.

No, all those deep see shape change shape at depth. Something that is done to freak out newbies on a submarine is that a piece of string is strung across a hallway before they dive and then as they dive, the newbie sees that slack is developing in the string and freaks out because he thinks the hull is collapsing.

As humans we are not meant to go some places. So are the animals that can survive down there the most durable creatures on the planet? Given that they live in that gigantic amount of water pressure.

Okay, I'm not going to explain to you what happens with water, salt, and metal.. As well as the bacteria eating away at it.

That deformation would've been normal though and not associated with failure. They wouldn't need to tie a string to freak out the newbies if it would just start cracking normally.

The operation director and designers spent countless hours watching and studying 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. They were experts and knew exactly what they were doing

At least you know your PlayStation controller can go in the sink.
The deep end of the bath might be pushing things.
