The Titanic itself is corroding away to the point it could be basically gone by 2030.
There will be no sort of monument or structure to see before too long.
Ironically enough the Titanic was discovered during a mission to locate the also failed USS Scorpion. 100 men died when the sub sank
At least they died quickly.
Don't think that's true. The Scorpion sank south of the Azores, hundreds of miles from the Titanic. Think they used the same submersible though.
I still cant believe the incompatancy in R&D. I'm sure the customers were told a very different story then the actual facts
So they were basically Thanos snapped out of existence.
At least they died quickly.
This is going to set deep sea tourism back significantly (and apparently Logitech as well).
It came out many years after the fact that the Titanic was used as a cover story to maintain sececy about the Scorpion wreck location and cause. The last thing the US wanted was for Russia to follow, find, and study US military / nuclear techniology. The captain of the mission freely admits all of this nowadays
I doubt it would have audibly cracked before failing. At the point it's cracking it would have imploded instantly I assume before the sound could even get to their ears. I mean perhaps they would have heard something immediately before they died but I assume they would've been out like a light just from the impact.
This isn't true. It was a myth propagated.....largely to generate interest for these tours. "Titanics going to be gone soon better pay us a shit ton of money to be able to see it!".
Yes the bow is going to collapse and it won't look the same but the wreck will be there in some capacity for centuries if not millenia as will most iron/steel wrecks.
No, all those deep see shape change shape at depth. Something that is done to freak out newbies on a submarine is that a piece of string is strung across a hallway before they dive and then as they dive, the newbie sees that slack is developing in the string and freaks out because he thinks the hull is collapsing.
I mean …….at least rhey didn’t feel a thing. Unless they heard noises or something where they could have time to panic. Seems like it’s basically being incinerated or squished instantly.
They should have tested the sub out with people with less money first
The entire sub industry is under immense pressure.I wonder if the company was under some sort of financial or time cruch, so they launched without any sort of preparedness. Its just so dumb
