News Titanic Tours Submersible missing in atlantic ocean

I wonder how the guys in the sub feel knowing they're about to die while everyone above is laughing at their deaths.

less than that, it'll be 96hours elapsed since launch in just 4 hours from now. (according to my calculations).

Again, 96hrs for 5 people will be just an estimate. They may have already succumbed.
Bigger people use more O2, panicked or stressed people use more O2, and dead people consume no O2. (apart from decomposition...).
Plus it's very cold inside there now, ice on the interior surfaces one submarine expert said.

The ballast can be launched manually, meaning no power necessary, so its a mystery why that didn't happen, and they should have been equipped with a GPS buoy that also could be launched manually. Neither occurred so its difficult to say why that is unless the hull breached and they all died or something else equally as catastrophic.

it really is a tragic situation. I think especially for the 19-yr-old kid who is in there (with his Dad).
- He really didn't get much of a shot at life at all.

What I expect will happen sometime relatively late tomorrow OR Friday is that the rescue teams etc will announce that this is now no longer a Search and Rescue operation but it is now changing to a Search and Recovery operation.

I think they knew very well the last few days that they have NO WAY to bring a small 10tonne submersible from 2.5miles down to the surface before the air runs out, so I expect them to announce tomorrow or Friday that there is no longer any hope of anyone being alive.

In fact....if 3 or 4 of the men have died the remaining 1 or 2 COULD survive as the remaining air is only being consumed by 1 or 2 people.
So.... theoretically there could be one or two alive for quite a while longer.... but with no way to bring the sub up, it's simply futile barring some miracle where it is found bobbing on the surface of it's own accord. (somehow).

To be clear, I stated earlier my belief is they already died via implosion.

I'm making fun of the posters here that are doing some kind of countdown, when there's no signs of any chance they'd be rescued in time. Its like they're praying for a miracle but are volunteering setting themselves up for recreational heartbreak.

I feel sorry for the 19 year old kid, I really do.
But at the same time, I can guarantee there's been a dozen heartbreaking tragedies somewhere in the world every day we've been paying attention to this story.

But.... 700 people died last week in the mediterarean after a boat sank. Why is this story getting to much more attention.

*The Titanic. The public is, 111 years later, still fascinated with the story of the boat, and its wreckage.
*The danger of Deep Sea Diving. And they don't get much deeper than the Titanic.
*A ticking clock... or else...
*An impossible rescue.... or is it?
...aw shit it looks like its impossible.

Where the fuck is James Cameron when ya need him?

Maybe ....this is somehow the Titanic's dead (1,517) sending a message from the other side of eternity to 'Leave us in Peace in our seabed grave'.....

No, this situation is because of a narcassist that didn't give a fuck about safety, and was a billionaire that was so cheap he didn't want to hire old white guys (but actually because they're professional, experienced, and expensive) so he went with young and inspiring (cheap, inexperienced, & unprofessional) designers & engineers to build the submarines.

Actually that 3800 meters deep ballgame actually is a much more desirable situation.

The submarine shut down 3/4rds of the way to the wreckage, so just before 3000 meters deep. Supposing they've stayed in between the very bottom or at the surface, the sub has been at the mercy of the ocean currents for almost 4 days now. They could literally be hundreds of miles away at this point, and there's no telling how long it'll take to find that sub.

If it was at the Titanic wreckage, that'd be even deeper but at least we'd know where it was.

Sounds like it’s almost impossible for the sub not to surface. So it’s either a hull failure or they possibly tangled into some debris. With as much area as has been covered, I just think if they surfaced somewhere they would have been found by now
 
Why are people even counting down anymore at this point? Even if they had like 12 hours left and they suddenly located them it would still be too late because they’d still have to figure how to actually rescue them. Realistically the only chance they could have had at survival would have been had they been able to locate them within the first 36 hours and then from there be able to whip together some miracle rescue operation within the next 24 hours. That hasn’t happened so there’s literally no Hope left for them at this point. 8 or 9 hours of hypothetical air left at this point is effectively the same as zero hours left.

It’s an academic question of “are they already dead or are they going to be dead within the next 8-12 hours?” but they’re long past the point of no return for making it out of this situation alive.
