Tips to beat after-work fatigue?

Yeah I work an extremely physical job and fairly mentally demanding and I still incorporate lifts sometimes after grappling or kickboxing... and I was struggling but now I use Opus preworkout, I actually got at a meet and greet with the pettis brothers and it helps tremendously... and after really long work days I hit Assault Black Label.....I'm not stopping after a scoop of this...one problem I had was I was getting colds lots prolly cause I was overworking myself without realizing because of the assault preworkout

I literally ice my biceps in a giant tub of ice water for about 3-4 hours then I hit up some triceps extensions

Eat more/better

Sleep more/better

Take my PWO earlier

I've never taken a pre workout in my life aonincano really speak about them but as far as diet and sleep go, that's a huge one for me. I try to get 9 hours a night just so I'm rested and recovered, I hate that feeling in the mid afternoon where you hair sort of crash and struggle for the next few hours. Getting more sleep really helps me with that.

When I have hard workouts planned after a day of work I find that I really need to stay on top of my eating and drinking, if I just eat at lunch, I will probably be hungry later and not really ready for a big workout right after work, I'll get home, get lazy and the workout won't be great but if I keep fueling up through the afternoon it helps a lot, same with water, it's not as shit here and I swear a good bit, in the summers I'll go through 3l of water in a work day.

And then of course, there's some days when it just dosent line up right and a squat session just isn't going to happen, on those days I'll do a solid conditioning workout and plan for the other workout the next day.

I don't get too obsessed with it anymore.

Don't go home and go right to lifting.

Hope that didnt come off like a dick, its just the brutal truth.

Every athlete, gym rat, and average joe have the same struggles. Motivation, diet, fatigue, etc.

Outside of the basics its just putting in some hard ass work for your goals.

No it's cool. Your original post visually appealed to my autistic side!

I just power through it and rest later.

I find if I use any form of caffeine whether it be pre workout or coffee my actual sleep is interrupted which just knocks the effects on the next day.

Don't go home and go right to lifting.

This is good advice. Do this.

Why are you going home and waiting 20 minutes? If I sit down when I'm tired after work it's harder for me to get motivated.

Before I train after work, ive already had 3-4 meals. I have a full meal 4 hours before I train. 2 hours before I train, I eat 1-2 apples.

I get 7-8 hours sleep.

I've been reading through Jim Wendler's webpage recently since starting 5/3/1.

He's written a couple of times that I've seen talking about the difference between motivation and discipline.

Basically motivation is a fleeting, momentary thing. You have to find it everytime you need it.
Discipline is something consistent. You have to cultivate it over time, but when you do, it will always be there to carry you through the hard days.

It makes me think of the firefighters that were working the Fort McMurray Wildfire. They had to work 50 hours before getting rest or a good meal. The human body is capable of incredible feats of endurance and strength. The physical ability to work out after getting off work is always there. The fatigue is 100% psychological.

A couple cups of coffee, if I am feeling really shitty I will take 1 or 2 Excedrin Migraine store brand pills.

I work a medium-physical, medium-mental demanding job and then have a tiring commute to and from work.

I get home, down my Beta Alanine and OJ, and wait 20 minutes to train but sometimes, it takes me 40 minutes to get up because I am that fking tired.

How do you push past being tired and just do it?

Don't go home and sit down. Go straight to the gym. I found my productivity increased tenfold when I started leaving my gym gear in my car and going straight from work.

Stop doing Beta Alanine, switch to Alpha.

Find the most stimulant loaded pre workout on the market. Preferably one with that magic ingredient DMAA. That shit gets you going.

i have the same problem manual/admin role, 90min commute. i like to have a flapjack before i get on the train, try to finish my half litre water bottle then doze occasionally. hit an espresso or two at home.

avoid the couch, that f***er can be like a motivation black hole as soon as my ass touches it
