Time Warner sucks

And now, after scattered light thunderstorms, the signal is so weak that the ps4 doesn't even register that I have an internet connection.

they're okay by me

Rolled out new lines for the whole neighborhood and I've had crazy speed every since. Only 35$ a month too; it's pretty insane. I think with Google Fiber (or w/e they're calling it now) rolling out test lines around Austin put some fear in them.

EDIT: I hate that you have to rent a damn modem from them; it's ridiculous. That's something that needs to change for all ISPs.

I would look into providing your own modem. TWC allows it. They'll remove the modem use line item off the bill and the savings will add up over time.

Ya I buy all my own shit. Never rent. Just got a new Surfboard and TP-Link.

Time Warner bumped up all there internet speeds. I had the "Turbo". It was like 20MBpS down. Which was garbage. They jumped it to 100MBpS for free.

On steam I've been hitting 15mb/s downloads. So it's faster then the 100 I'm paying for.

TWC User out here in CA. Sounds to me you're in a place with f'd up wiring/lines if Thunderstorms are putting you out. Here's my results for right now (I only pay $60 a month):

I have TWC as my ISP and they are absolute shit. I pay for "extreme" internet which is supposed to be 13 mb/s and never get above 3, some times I'm even in kb/s. Can't play games online, can't use Netflix or YouTube.

Anyone else think Time Warner sucks cocks?

A tech has been out twice and hasn't fixed a fucking thing. Also when they initially connected my service, they just left the modem in the middle of the floor with about 2 feet of co ax to work with. When asked if they could route the wire to behind the television, they told me to call an electrician. What cunts.

oh trust me, they are fucking awful. And almost as bad as comcast, im thankful google is looking to expand there im done with these ass bags

Apparently I'm experiencing power loss between the outside line and the modem. They're coming tomorrow to look at it. Hopefully they can fix this mess.

I was stuck with Time Warner as my only high speed Internet option here in SoCal for a long time. My experience with them was that they would tell you it would be 3-4 business days before they could get a tech out to repair your service if it ever went down, but every time I called them to install new service, they were magically able to make it the same day. If they don't have your money yet they will rush out to take it, but once they have it they dgaf about you. Now that FIOS is available here we are never going back to TWC.

last year my bill was around $190 for one cable box and extreme speed internet and i told them it was to high and TWC said they couldn't get it any lower, so then i called them back and told them i was terminating my service with them and going to direct tv and they immediately lowered my bill to $120. lol TWC is petty as hell and it pissed me off so bad

i pay 90 a month for 60 down and 5 up from twc. nothing, and i mean absolutely nothing is worse than fairpoint dsl tho.

Agreed. Fairpoint has a monopoly up here. They'd be out of business if they had any competition.

I have crapcast plus the fucking phone line because the little lady wanted it so I don't have a lot of choices when it comes to my own modem

You can't just buy your own modem? I have Charter, and when I had my shit installed, I waived the modem rental because I had my own. You guys are blowing my mind with this "data cap" nonsense. That's crazy.

Tech came out today, didn't touch the cable outside. Gave me a new wall plate and modem. Worked for a few hours and is fucked again. Lol.

Its widely known Murkans get screwed on Interweb speeds.

It is 20th globally in peak connection speed.

You guys have amazing speeds. I'm speed testing with the ps4, not sure how accurate it is.

Are high end modems worth it? I've seen some for 300 bucks that promise as much as 1 gig/s.

You're still only going to get as much bandwidth as you pay your ISP monthly for. So, if you have a 30mb/down plan, they're going to top your speed there and you wouldn't be able to make use of the modem's full potential.
