Media Tim Welch reveals what he said to Merab during Suga fight

Right, but how do you know that I'm talking to the other fighter as opposed to mine? What if the referee is too focused on the fighters to notice? There're a lot of loopholes. You can't really regulate what someone says, unless you want to just remove their ability to speak during rounds all together.
COVID 19 is making a rather conveniently timed comeback, so just force all coaches and cornerpeople to wear masks again. Problem solved.

I have to say to me it seems more like sledging, which is okay in some sports from the crowd. But in fighting sports like MMA or boxing or kickboxing or muay thai or so on, where there is a big underlying element of honour and respect to your opponent, I think a coach or corner sledging his team's sole opponent is rather dishonourable and I can't see any merit in it.

At a minimum, it will slightly distract the opponent fighter, and nobody should be distracting/attacking the fighter out there other than his fighting opponent.

No, that’s not what we’re talking about. According to John McCarthy, the rule is that you’re not allowed to speak to the other fighter at all. And like I said, that’s going to be difficult to regulate.
Your caps lock is on by the way, not sure if you noticed.

Are you fucking retarded? I'm not explaining this because it's pretty simple. You either I understand the concept of enforcing rules and. How it would bee did e or you dont. And the capitalization for the retarded people - I was hoping you'd realize how stupid you sound and try to not to sound as stupid. it didn't work.

I've heard that Aljo didn't hear Tim, not sure if that's true. But in fact he did say that shit and Sean didn't deny it

And it happened again. It didn't work on Merab but that's pretty diabolical. I've never heard of a fighters corner trying to work the opponent psychologically. Idk if Herb has a right to govern excessive coaching

That was such a weird start lol
I did high school wrestling. Not one bit uncommon. I'm guessing u never did a combat sport?

it's not difficult to regulate at all. don't yell out the opposing fighter's name while you give instructions. you give instructions to your own guy, or you keep your mouth shut. attempting to talk to the other fighter is not allowed.

this isn't some fucking philosophical question "well how do we truly define who is being addressed?". it hasn't been a problem in a million different fights, it was very clear that he did it in this one, and he was told to stop doing it.

this dork doesn't even seem like a coach to me. does he coach anyone else? he just seems like sean's doofus buddy who's always around and they sometimes hit pads

This isn’t even legible. Feel free to correct the grammar if you want to, otherwise I’ll just take that as a concession.

Well the problem is that you can’t address the other fighter at all. Shouting the other fighters name is just what makes it obvious. It’s still possible to address the other fighter without shouting their name— which is what I’m referring to.

A majority of people including fighters and commentators didn’t even know that it was against the rules to begin with. To say that it won’t or doesn’t happen often still doesn’t refute my point.
It was clear that he was doing it this time. But what if he didn’t say Merab’s name at the end of the shout? There would have been no way for Herb Dean to definitively say he was addressing Merab. If all you have to do is not say the other fighters name, then it will still be possible for a fighters corner to have dialogue with the opposing fighter in the cage.

Does anyone else find this funny and hope he keeps doing this?

The fact that something this small and petty has you guys THIS upset makes it that much more hilarious

<36>

Lol. I'm for one not upset.
I just think Dorothy should behave more sportsman like, and since we're on a kung fu website, i post it
