Now this is how an intense / stressful conversation between a group of people should be like.

The whole cast in this scene is brilliant.

Best scene in the movie imo.

Pretty civilised really, there's only 3 humans and apart from a little talking over the top of people, they conducted themselves in the command structure of rank they belonged to in the story........and took turns speaking........

It's a 7 for me.........

But you have to remember this scene is during that time period of 1979, where you don't see this type of intense conversation going on in film. Especially when you have a woman as lead. This was refreshing and new to see at that time.

Yes you did and there was quite a few films with strong female leads...... I'll give you that it wasn't happening in the Sci-fi/horror type films....

It's one of my favorite movies of all time. The performances were raw and real, and you felt the fear and tension throughout the entire movie. It never let up.

I give that scene an 8. It's one of my favorite movies too.

Now the opening 15 minutes or so, 10 or of 10. It perfectly establishes who they are, where they are and what is different for them about going down to the planet.

I glossed over it for years but I've grown to appreciate more what is happening in that scene. It is very well done.

It started off OK, but once the aliens get free it goes downhill fast.

One bit of trivia for this scene that probably none of you know.....is that BEFORE rhey filmed this scene, the director Ridley Scott took Yaphet Koto (Parker) aside and told him to irritate/ annoy Sigourney Weaver (Ripley) as much as he could off camera to build some real tension / resentment for their onscreen interaction. Well I think you can see if certainly helped judging by the way Weaver explodes at Parker in this scene.

I found that out years ago by watching a DVD with directors commentary they the entire movie.
