So you're one of those parents training their children to expect to be rewarded for doing what they're supposed to do? Thanks for creating an entitled generation.

No, we're teaching him to be responsible for his actions. When he's young we're using tools that match his attention span. The treat was an example of a positive goal for him. He gets logical punishments for when he miss behaves as well.

I grew up as "have not" and worked very hard in my life to get where I am. Even though I could go out and buy a bunch of stuff for my child, I will not and he will earn the things he's given.

So you never give him any freedom to explore?

Sure I do, as much as I trust a 3 year old not to put himself into some kind of situation. Which means not much.
