You Voting? Do You Even Care About These Award Shows?
I know everyone here got the DOG for media site of the year...

But who else gets your vote if any?

Here's what I got...

Feel free to beat on me, pimps, or just post who you got.

Alex should be fighter of the year like last year, but watch it go to some inactive Conor clone like O'Malley

Fighter of the year is gonna be quite debatable, but pereira could end the year with 3-4 title wins and then it would be him for sure.

Mak might end the year with history as first lightweight champ to ever get 4 defenses

Topuria could end the year with wins over Volk and holloway

DDP is on a major tear, would be better if he could get in a third fight before this year ends

That would be a total insult - Without Having Even One top 5 win in his division.
Agreed. I wouldn’t choose him. But it is still a historic title win if he gets 4 defenses… and at least he’s facing arman next.

I'm a fan of Mak's fighting, but avoiding top contenders isn't champ worthy.

fight of the year was too one sided, preferred ortega/rodriguez and dustin/sd

I don't understand why the award is still named after Charles "Mask" Lewis. Dude was a textbook douchebag who died street racing while drunk with a female half his age riding shotgun.
Not a fan of his and street racing is dangerous and immoral as it endangers innocent people but “an autopsy revealed that Lewis had no drugs or alcohol in his system when he died.”

Fair is fair and it’s not great to state things like that that aren’t true.

Ok, I stand corrected on that part, but either way the crash happened from him being completely irresponsible douche.

Well not only that, but you got it backwards. The guy racing him in the porsche was drunk and caused the accident. You're ragging on the guy for what, street racing? Have you ever owned a powerful vehicle? If you have are you telling me you've never revved it, not even once? Impossible.
I'm not defending street racing, it's irresponsible and causes accidents, but we're all human, brother. He could get younger women because he had money and fast cars? You don't say? This is a bad thing?

Charles was one of the first to figure out how to crack the barrier mma had to the mainstream acceptance. This is an era before every whatshisface had their own merch company. Were tapout shirts mostly douchey? Yes, but they were eye catching and caused people to learn the sport existed at a point that most that had actually heard about it had their opinions formed by nightly propaganda or congressional hearings run by McCain trying to ban MMA the year before Tapout came to be. It was the dark ages.
Tapout leaned into the edginess, and while we can make fun of it in hindsight, guys like Mask managed to turn eyes towards the sport in a time it desperately needed it.
Small part about the history of the sport, but one that I'm fine with having a small, unobtrusive memorial like a fighter of the year award.

You say you're not defending street racing right after you literally defend him for street racing. Weird. Thanks for the history lesson though.

I'm not defending it as I know it is a stupid activity, however I can also understand the urge to go fast in people, it isn't a binary.
