Thoughts on moving/ living in Las Vegas?

Even though I just watched 3 hours of mobsters killing each other and robbing and scamming tourists, I can't help but a feel a little sad every time at the end of Casino when Sam gets forced out for the big corporate casinos.
That’s what I was thinking since I just saw Casino over the weekend.

My friend gave me front row tickets to see Franz Harary. His assistant came into the audience and dragged me onstage to be part of his illusion act. His show was fantastic.

It's crazy I've never been to an UFC fight live. Although I've been to many boxing events. @HI SCOTT NEWMAN

wow that show looks awesome!! he is very talented. I have never been to one of his shows, but would love too.

"His assistant came into the audience and dragged me onstage to be part of his illusion act" - Woah that is awesome!!! tell me more about it, what did you see? did you see any trap doors or something back there?, what happened.

So awesome wow.

Back when my wife was working for the OC Fight Doc & working with a lot of their fighters the UFC wanted to hire her to come work for them but she'd have had to move to Vegas, of course, And she had no interest in doing so as she was lining in Newport Beach at the time & there was no way that she was going to give that up to live in Vegas.
I almost moved there back in the early 90s but the girl I was seeing at the time got pregnant with my first child so I changed my plans. I'd love to know what would have happened had I gone anyhow but I'm just not the type of guy to run out on a pregnant girl so my move to Vegas never happened.

This^^^.

If you like Casino, you should look up a doc on Anthony 'the ant' Spilotro, which Pesci's character was based
on.

The real Geraldine McGee (Ginger in Casino), was incredibly attractive.

She was truly deranged when she was coked up in the 70s.

Nah, there was hardly any violent crime there when the mob still ran things. Rape or murder was bad for business so they’d catch the offender and bury them alive out in the desert.

LOL - the mob was the crime. I wouldn't take any rape statistic seriously as it was a largely unreported crime. If you look at the attitude that LEOs had about rape it's pretty shocking.

I’ve lived in Vegas since 2012. Moved here mostly for my wife. I don’t mind it. I don’t love it either.

rent is going up like crazy here so don’t expect some cheap ass 3 bedroom unless you live in north Las Vegas. And even then prices are going up.

I don’t gamble so I rarely go to the strip. Unless family or friends are visiting.

you are correct on being able to go to sports games. Tickets aren’t really cheap though. I’ve been here since 2012 and I have yet to go see UFC fights because I’m not paying 400 dollars to sit in nose bleed seats to watch the fights on a monitor. No thanks. Also raider tickets will prob cost a shit ton too.

If you enjoy hiking there is red rock and mt Charleston.

The sports thing is weird, b/c a lot of other places have a lot more and cheaper sports.

Sam got too full of hiself and got what he deserved.

“And what the fuck are you doing on TV anyways?! You’re on TV cause you WANTED to go on TV!!” really summed it up

I talked to Nick real quick last year at XS in Vegas for Halloween and thought the same thing. He’s definitely not 6’0” or 6’1” or whatever they bill him at, maybe 5’10”ish but he’s way stockier than I’d have imagined. He had to have been 200+
Hmm... I definitely would have had him pegged at 6'0"+ at the time. But heights are subject to change. I've lost an inch or two myself since then. I used to be taller than my brother and now I'm shorter. I was measured barefoot at 6'0.5" less than five years ago and then last year I was measured at 5'11" barefoot.

yeah but the gambling/tourist aspect adds to demand for sports tickets in vegas

You work from home?

Come and live in Argentina bro. With 2K a month you are amazing. WIth 3K you are rich.

Beautiful women, you won't die from heat and pretty cheap for you.

Shit.. I would move to the Patagonia if I could.

I'd rather the heat though. I might come visit this year though, considering how favorable the current exchange rate is

That still looks terrible. I don't think you guys know how to do sushi
This. Sushi is best served straight from the bar where it's made. Buffet sushi loses its flavor. Fish loses moisture and rice gets hard.

If you like the heat you can go to visit the north. It's even cheaper

Nah. Too many mountains, not enough women, wine, and steak
Salta has arguably the best wines in the country. Cafayate specially... their local production is awesome and super cheap.

Women.. yeah, you are fucked.

my buddy moved out there for this chick that's like uber rich. I mean UBER rich. he doesn't work & she buys him everything. not my kind of thing but he's living the life.

Is she minging though

Yes but any place that does decent volume won't have sushi sit for long.

There are made to order AYCE sushi places in Vegas like Sushi Mon. It's better than the put it out asian buffet places or the casino buffets with a sushi corner.

Last time I was in town I hit Poke Express for some fire authentic pay-by-weight cubed and sauced tuna for a very reasonable price.

You couldn't pay me to live in Vegas. Outside of the strip, which locals avoid like the plague, the town is just subdivision after subdivision. One giant suburb surrounded by mountains.

And yeah, like you said, a lot of older expats that retire there because it's cheap to live there. But it's cheap because the job market sucks unless you work in gaming. Not that this matters to you since you work remotely.
Interesting titi
