Want this to be good , but Thor standalone hasn't translated to the best movies despite having Tom Hiddleston as a villain / wildcard

Good actor but not that great of a villain. He's been kinda ran over in every movie. No real threat

Wait, this is shaping up to be a great movie. Don't get your hopes up, taurus, don't get your hopes up.

Goldblum?

Karl Urban?
Noooo waaay...

The guy that directed What we do in the shadows is directing? Get the frick outta here! I did not know this...

Seems to me someone was not happy that Thor movies were not as succesful as foreseen. They're bringing out the heavy guns with this one.

Loki is better behind the scenes. I believe he'll have to atone for his failures, though. He can't go unpunished by Thanos.

Tessa Thompson Rumored to Play Valkyrie in THOR: RAGNAROK

Tessa-Thompson-Valkyrie-1-Dragonlord.jpg

In addition to Chris Hemsworth continuing his role as Thor himself in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok, director Taika Waititi has brought in Mark Ruffalo to play Hulk once again, and Cate Blanchett to take on the role of Hela. Tom Hiddelston will be back as Loki

If the previous rumors are to be believed, Thor will be going through some trials that will see the death of a major character and set the movie's stakes. The final showdown with Hela will feature an army of the dead commanded by the villainess doing battle with good Valkyries from Valhalla and the souls of the righteous fallen, including the dead major character. It turns out the second part of that sentence is quite important.

A few days ago, it was reported that Tessa Thompson (Creed, Dear White People) had joined cast of Thor: Ragnarok, and that Natalie Portman would not be returning to the franchise. According to the original Deadline report, Thompson's character was called "a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well."

Latino Review is reporting that Thompson is playing the MCU version of Valkyrie. In the comics, this character's real name is Brunnhilde, and she is chosen by Odin to lead the Valkyrior, the Asgardians who roam battlefields, and select the honorable dead for Valhalla. The title of Valkyrie just applies to whomever leads the Valkyries though, so we may or may not be seeing her before she takes on said title. Either way, this character aligns with the report, and could very well appear again in Avengers: Infinity War.

Another Black washing? They already black washed Heimdall. I have nothing against blacks but there are black marvel characters.

Oh shit. New casting includes:

Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster

Karl Urban as Skurge

We also have confirmation that Cate Blanchett is playing Hela and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.

Will Amora the Enchantress be in it? No point of Skurge without her. I wonder how can play her. Must be someone beautiful. Blonde Rachel Nichols be perfect.

Always wanted Amber Heard for Enchantress , but she is locked into be Aqua Drogo's Queen

Sees Karl Urban in an MCU movie

HYPE TO 11!!!

Is he Beta Ray Bill?

Hype to 8.....

The world isn't ready for you yet, buddy. Marvel won't give us what we want.

The cast is frikin' awesome! They're doing the diversity reach with Valkyrie, but it makes sense from a marketing standpoint.

Civil War was prolly the darkest Marvel™ movie so far. If this is darker, it would just about have to brush up against DC territory. Glad to hear the director has a sense of humor.

I hadn't realized it but yeah, how could you make a THOR movie without Karl Urban? A good third of his catalog, he already looks like he's playing some kinda Asgardian.

Or ass guardian.

You're cool with it because Art Adams gave us Storm Thor.

Prime Art Adams with that Kirby Krackle in his eye.

Did any of you guys pipe up when Tilda Swinton was cast as the Ancient One or Scarlett Johannson was cast in Ghost in the Shell? Asking for a friend.

Surprised to see you supported jordan as torch. That movie tried to hard to be different. Everything about ff was changed. By changing storms race you had to change alot of the orIginla back story. Deviating to far from the source material. That's always what bugs me

I was okay with it before I saw the movie, and even after I saw the movie it didn't even matter. IMO, Human Torch is probably the worst original member of any major Marvel Team. He's just lame all around. They could have killed him off in the first 5 minutes and replaced him with Wyatt Wingfoot and it wouldn't have made a difference. The movie did try to hard, but black torch, not to be confused with Black Flame from the Hellboy Universe, could have worked. Where they went full Florida was when they made Sue the adopted sister. Adopting a white girl in the US is nigh impossible and it showed how absurd they were being.

If I was in charge of the movie and there was pressure to change Torch, I would have loved to have Jordan and I would have made him the adopted brother of Sue Storm.
I would have also tried to get Dr. Bill Foster from MCU as colleague of Reeds or Dr. Storm. Black Goliath is your real black science guy. From there my movie would have been awesome whereas Fox was garbage.

I love Tilda Swinton so I think I was accepting, but I would have prefered Ken Watanabe or David Lo Pan.
I did throw something of a hissy fit over Sir Ben Kingsley being cast as the Mandarin.

Unfortunately for Urban, Skurge is one of Thor's lamest foes.

Edit: Skurge is awesome, I was thinking of Kurse. Urban is miscast tho.

On paper this looks great, a stellar cast so i'm hoping they don't fuck this up like the last one.
