This whole Poatan to HW thing

And pretty much lose us another bright star at a moment when the UFC is in dire need of them.

Most fans yelling for Alex at HW just want to see him fail against the huge HW guys.

Hope he stays and keeps giving the best in the LHW division hell. Alex is awesome where he is now. His great Championship run is eerily similar to the one Volk recently had destroyed from 1 fight (he could have avoided).

Volk Losing the belt he proudly defended for ages, After the Physical Beating From Jumping To A Higher Weight Class, possibly ruined the remainder of his career AND For Sure Crippled his future earnings.

Alex Can't Make That Same Career & Life Changing Mistake.

Thank you!!!!

Thank you!!!!

You got it Nabs. Cheerleaders for their cheating duck Pico are non-stop WISHING to eliminate Tom and Alex as opponents. Alex has NO business at heavyweight, he's right where he belongs...as the champ, dominating LHW.

Izzy and his fans - also still crying. They want to see Alex lose - To Anybody.
They all whine knowing Izzy has NO Chance to ever beat Alex again.

Is dumb at this point IMO. Let's stop acting like excited teenagers who believe in make believe.

Let's not mess up a good thing and lose one of the best thing that has happened to the LHW division in years.

Poatan has a lot of work to do in the division (Ankalaev, Hill rematch, dope matchups like Roundtree if he can put some wins together, possibly Izzy trilogy if he'd nut up, etc.) to cement himself as one of the greatest, and he could use some of that time also to continue to work on his wrestling.

The UFC is already thin on stars. The way to build them is let them destroy opposition within their division, THEN move up and challenge each other. When Conor went up to challenge for a 2nd belt, although he had not defended his belt, he had gone on a tear within the division and there was no clear #1 contender aside from doing a rematch with Aldo.

Let both Poatan and Aspinall continue to build their legend and star up before we rush them into dimming each other's light. I understand Poatan is short on time being 36, but if he's not even ready for Blayde's wrestling, he sure will not see Bones. It'll just be a cash grab for Jones.

Let's not mess up a good thing boys. Poatan bless.
Agree, but Conor is a bad example.

He didn't even defend his belt.

It's not just fans. Pereira himself wants to make that move, and if he wants to then why should the UFC deny him?

Cutting weight isn't something you can do forever, and it takes it's toll on your body. You see it in boxing all the time, young fighters move up in weight and fight in multiple weight classes because their bodies start filling out and they can't make the weight that they previously fought at...

It is different in MMA, since weight classes are normally separated by 10 lbs or more, but I honestly feel heavyweight is in Pereira's future.

Izzy wants absolutely NO part of the trilogy. Now that Alex doesn't have to deplete himself to make MW, his chin might not be easily crackable for Izzy anymore. I hope DDP puts him out for good. Dude will legit go into hiding if he loses the "battle for Africa".

why are people somewhat clamoring for a jamahal hill rematch? my irl friends are saying it, OP is saying it, why does anyone want to see that?

That WOULD be punishment - but Izzy might then claim a China homeland.

It's weird to say Alex has cleaned out the LHW division. But that's a desolate place to be

- Hill and Jiri already punched their tickets out
- Jan is MIA and a rematch isn't quite worrented
- Ankalaev is the only valuable contender and he hasn't done shit since his two fights with Walker

So it's a matter of where you want to see Alex. He has a chance to make history and go down as the GOAT with three titles. He is about to be 37 and he's even said he doesn't know how long he will be fighting

So really. Who do you want to see him fight???
Ank

Aside from stopping the TDs, I'm also worried about his chin. He could easily lose to someone like Lewis or Tuivasa if they connect.
Well Tuivasa sparred in Australia with Alex 2 weeks ago and it was a one side show. Tui said that he couldn't do anything, Alex is too good on the feet. in fact, Lewis and Tuivasa are the easiest matchup in HW. Then some guys like Gane and Volkov are also easy money (same skills but no KO power, a walk in the park for AP). Aspinal is obviously the worst fighter for Poatan and Blades of course. Finally Jones is a mystery. At his prime, it's an easy win for Bony, but today?

killed your own argument right away

I want to see him fight Anka so he can shut the haters up lol, and then the sky is the limit.
I think he calls his shot after that, if he can stop Ank sir.

It's not really just because it's desolate, but Alex has also only fought top guys at LHW and has been highly active. Technically speaking, someone would have cleaned out any division if they had done the same thing. If you beat the top 3-4 fighters within like 2 years, you are pretty close to cleaning out he division, even at 155 or something.

Alex still has one more fight left at LHW before he can say he cleaned it out, and by the time it happens, another contender may arise. That's usually how it goes.

I just want to see Alex pushed to his limit of what he's capable of and see what comes out of it. The dude just can't seem to stop winning.

Jones
Ankalaev
Aspinall
Ngannou

^ These are the only fights I'm interested in seeing Alex in next, everyone else his size has either already been beaten or has more work to do.

Alex looked pushed to the limit by Izzy at MW and Jan at LHW. Not sure we need to see him at HW, but I understand the attraction of it.

The record for title defenses at light heavyweight is in the double digits. Alex has 1-2 years left of fighting prime.

The more intriguing path is to heavyweight. This could be the only triple champ ever in the ufc. It’s a huge stretch, but given his size and ability, it’s not as impossible to believe with pereira compared to most.

Idk, Alex has been a 185 for most of his life, and is more along the size of a 205er. Really, 205ers only start fighting at HW when they are washed up and taking fights in B-promotions.

Alex can probably cut weight for the rest of his (relevant) career if he wants. Making 205 for him probably feels easy compared to the things he had to do to make 185, which wasn't that long ago.

He is walking around at 230lbs+, so when he gets tired of cutting all that weight and fighting smaller men, he will go to HW. Sooner rather than later I hope.

why are people somewhat clamoring for a jamahal hill rematch? my irl friends are saying it, OP is saying it, why does anyone want to see that?
Because Hill is a striker. Pereira already made light work of Hill so a rematch anytime soon between the two makes zero sense.

I don't mind Alex testing himself at HW. I hespect of heem. With that said the fanboys are somewhat unrealistic about his chances at HW. I don't think his power will translate to HW the same against the elites and his wrestling/grappling will be overwhelmed by guys like Tom, Jon, Volkov, Almeida and Blaydes. With that said if he wants to bang let him bang. Outside of Ank there's no one else for him to fight at LHW so why not?
