This thread is for the people who thinks Holly will beat Ronda

Discussion in 'UFC Discussion' started by Bulletproof Acc, Aug 21, 2015.

  1. I KNOW she will do it. I'll post the slip when we get closer to the fight.

Holly trains at Jackson's MMA and will have access to better sparring and gameplanning and pretty much better everything than Ronda who is under the tutelage of Edmond Tarverdyan, who is a great coach, but not on the same level. Holly is also naturally a bad matchup for Ronda and is very very smart/skilled. She (much like Edgar) understands the art of point fighting.

    WHO IS WITH ME?

Unlike Ronda's past opponents, she knows how to stick and move. And yes, she trains at a great gym. This matchup is way more interesting than Ronda vs Tate 3.

I'm with you man. I think she has the style to beat Rousey if she can evade the clinch.

With her footwork and Jackson/Winkeljohn behind her, she can do it and punish Rousey everytime she bullrushes in with no head movement and terrible strikes.

I think Holly has the potential to beat Ronda, but I don't believe she is ready yet. I'd still very much like to see it happen.

Still a more fun matchup than Meisha 3.

Jackson was in Kaufman's corner too and we all saw how that turned out.

This will be another 1st round finish.

This thread will make for a glorious bump on Jan. 6th thanks TS.

Yeh but I should've stuck by my guns. When Holly was coming up in other promotions I was always saying she'd be the one to beat Ronda. Then I guess even I who tries to stay objective in all things started to be effected by the Ronda hype and I began to doubt myself. Never again.

  20. You are correct. Holm aint no Kaufman though. Kaufman is very unathletic.

If Holly has zero power, then Rousey has the weakest chin ever. Given that she, you know, was knocked out coooooooooold, eyes closed trying to hug a ghost.

Nunes vs Tate for the next shot?

Really though, if they are just going to pick someone at random that isn't Meisha to feed to Ronda is should have been Nunes.

    KO McMann > decision Reneau

No, I don't think she will win. But she could. She has the power.

Most likely she gets finished in the first like everyone else though.

    LOL.

Sarah Kaufman trains with Greg Jackson too and had Greg in her corner when she got dominated by Ronda.

Kaufman has better grappling than Holly too.

Gameplans and training mean JACK FUCKEN SHIT when you're going against an elite athlete grappler like Ronda.

She looked like shit against Reneau who took up MMA at 32 with no prior combat background.

Yeah, she's going to beat Rousey no problem...

Exactly what I think, If she learns proper take down defence, and I think she has lately,
She will be the 1st real challenge to the title. She is no soccer mom, She was an athlete before Ronda ate her 1st bowl of rice crispies.

I came here to watch a lot of people take their allotted serving of shit and was certainly not disappointed.

I was hoping for Rousey to get beaten. I felt it was 80-20 she'd pull it off again, but I also felt this was one of those fights where one should reserve official judgment because we didn't have enough information on Holm - or, you could argue that we do, but it comes from wildly different domains and it was wildly different in what it told us. You had her MMA matches to date, based on which most nuthuggers operated (in combination with Ronda's track record). Then you had videos of her separating girls from their consciousness, displaying power - and speed, and footwork - which don't simply disappear once you transition to MMA. You also have the fact that she's no stranger to championship matches, there's a certain mentality in place.

And she was humble in the buildup. No trash talk of note, mostly just absorbing the idea of being the heavy underdog and going back to her grind.

The bottom line is, this should not have been as easy a prediction for most people who made it sound like an easy prediction. But people like to pretend to be prescient and to sound right and be able to say "I done told you so".

This wasn't a run-off-the-mill fight people made it to be. Most everybody assumed Jedrzejczyk would beat Letorneau - a fight in which there weren't the types of X factors as there were in this one - a dominant champion vs a contender with durability but no exceptional physical traits, track record or other possible equalizers.

If Holly Holm did one thing beyond beating Ronda soundly, she hopefully taught many people humility.

This wasn't an upset. GSP v Serra was an upset. This was her design.
