This is why people should love McGregor

People do love mcgreggor. It is now a very small and very butt hurt group of people who don't love conor, and aldo fans which is understandable.

The UFC is the PROMOTION plain and simple. Look how much time, money and effort went into promoting Sage. If even half of that effort would have been put behind RDA or Lawler then yes, they would be bringing in big numbers.

I'm not sure why pointing out how a promotional company promoting upsets you so much.

What promotion did they put in for Sage? He was popular because he was on the finding a fight show... He then won his first fight in a matter of seconds and did a unreal flip that was shared across the hole Internet and went viral.

If other champs got the same push from the promotion that Conor gets they could bring in the revenue.
Get real. Conor got pushed BECAUSE he moved the needle. If the UFC could just push guys and create mega draws they would. Use your brain.

Maybe the fanboyism and threads like this popping up all the time contribute to people being put off by him.
How weak minded of an individual do you have to be to let something a person can't control (their fans) effect your opinion of them? Grow up.

True. Conor walked the walk and talked the talk. He made it easy for the UFC to push him.

Bullshit, they would fight even less because they could afford not to fight.

We bitch about fighter pay, but fighters only get paid when they fight. How much did Cain actually earn as champion? You'd think the dude would have tried to make as much as he could when he had the chance.

McGregor is a driven person with goals. He's created everything he has. Other fighters should learn from him. Success comes from making shit happen.

you think Cain fakes injuries? I'm pretty sure he simply has a training too hard issue.

The "Finding a Fight" show is promotion. Sage wasn't the only fighter they looked at but he was the one they got behind.

It's funny. When he wasn't champion and was chasing gold, money and fame, he always seemed to be fit and healthy come fight time.

McGregor fans always wants an excuse to shit on other fighters. Despite the fact that the UFC clearly gave McGregor special treatment from the beginning of his career, McGregor himself got seriously injured some time ago and spent more than a year out of activity.

I'm pleased that Conor fights often. But I don't really want to see fighters feeling pressured to fight with broken bones.

I never thought he faked injuries before. You are right about the change though.

"an active champion"

He is champ for 2 months, give him 5 years and then we will talk about him being an active champ. But he does show up and never pulls out, I'll give him props for that.

This statement has been proven false by a number of examples.

Anderson got paid a ton of cash. He rarely ever wanted to fight, and he always tried to cherry pick his opponents and would stall match ups all the time. He was the worst champ the UFC ever had.

GSP was probably the greatest one they had in their history, but after while he was only doing two fights a year. He began to fight extremely safe towards the last 8 fights of his career.

Aldo could have made a ton more cash. He hated interviews, wouldn't learn english, wouldn't go inside the cage to market his match ups, and wouldn't do anything but fight once or twice a year max after while. He also started fighting very safe after a title defense or two.

Weidman hasn't tried to be active since he got the belt.

Cain - Do I even have to go there?

All of these examples can have injuries as excuses at times, but in the end these guys were all a lot more active when they weren't champs. They were hungry and wanted to obtain something. Once a lot of them get it, they simply don't want to lose it. The fact that Conor is out there taking the risks that he is and fighting the way he does is history in the making. We're watching one of the greatest athletes in world history, and it's a shame that some of you are so miserable that you can't appreciate any of it.

It doesn't upset me. You're just wrong.

They've had Lawler headline cards prior to winning a Championship, he took part in the World Tour alongside Conor, they've sent him to fan events, he's done radio/podcasts...

Lawler just doesn't like the spotlight like McGregor does. He just wants to fight.

If the UFC could make Lawler as popular as McGregor, what would be their advantage in not doing it? Do you think they just hate money?

If other champs got paid what the UFC gives McGregor, they'd be just as active.

I disagree. Most fighters at 145 lbs and above will earn a 7 digit number. MM and Joanna are the only champs who do not earn enough but they are actually pretty active.

Hungry fighters are usually way more active than fighters who do not need much anymore. It is easy to feel this way when you are worth millions. What is great about Conor that he is still hungry for more, a lot more.

All fighters need to make whatever adjustments they need in order to be available on fight night. They only get paid when they fight. They need to start thinking more carefully about being available.

Because he performed best and was the main event of that show.

I should love him, but he keeps on making the fighters injure with his non sense prediction. Stahp it please so we can get a decent fight. Whoever replaces RDA, I hope conor destroys them cause i really wanted to see this fight with RDA.
