They're not fighters because MMA pays peanuts. If UFC paid more than NFL, they would become fighters. These guys are athletic specimen, they can be good at whatever sport they want if they applied themselves to it. Especially MMA, which is a very sub par sport, athletically.

The UFC is filled with C and D level athletes, many of whom picked up MMA as a hobby and went on to have lots of success and fight in the premiere MMA promotion with minimal experience. An elite A level athlete would embarrass an MMA fighter if they decided to get into MMA. MMA is the Rocky V of sports.

To compare Shaq and Lesnar athletically is a huge joke. Lesnar couldn't even make the roster for the Vikings, whereas Shaq completely manhandled and dominated other monster athletes in a time where physical play was almost unregulated. No comparison.

I'll actually be reasonable and say that Shaq with 3 years of BJJ would most likely completely decimate the heavyweight division. He's big enough to the point where his size just completely neutralizes any sort of wrestling.
