Sounds like complete horseshit given our population has increased by nearly a third since the year 2000, overwhelmingly via mass migration, so no convict background.:

Interesting that none of the responses in the search engine seem to reference where this 20% figure came from... and the wiki page references a BBC article which when clicked on gives a 404 error....

Yeah it does sound like bullshit, I just clicked the first link on google. But thinking about it more, this is probably done to entice people to sign up for those ancestry DNA services.

While we're asking questions: Why is there apparently no mention on the internet of a fire burning through a "lithium mine" in Australia(other than a reddit post with the same video and like one comment)? This seems like something that would get wayyyyyyy more coverage.

edit: There are now 2 mentions of it, but very few details which I find odd.
