This is Australia.

The quote function isn't working for me in the present format.

I have no way of personally knowing the percentage but I'm not dismissing it. I grew up rural. Many folks new their family history back that far and beyond, and it was often a point of interest discussed as national/local and family history. Many other people are not even aware and have not looked. I myself didn't know until the last 5 years when I was looking at family history and found two from Ireland (highway robbery) and one from England (listed as stealing but was a heavy sentence so either a frequent offender or there is more to it).
Prior to that I used to jokingly brag there were no criminals in my lineage. Oooops.

My point is, most of Australia's white people live rural and are often families that have been here 150+ years and have such ancestry. Others are not aware as they know little of their family history (as was me at one point, I am 50 and said for years I was not from convicts). If you ask them they get very vague on their lineage as it is not important to them at that point of their lives (it often changes in their 40s and they start to wonder where they came from).

Yes we are well aware of the influx of immigrants since 2000 but the country was well developed and well populated before that.

Plus prior to say 1970 white people used to have significantly larger families so 20 percent is quite possible with the trickle down effect from that period.
Just to clarify, I didn't meant to dismiss it. I don't think it's a big deal whichever number it really is.

I grew up in South West Sydney where lots of people where I'm from also immigrated to (90s to 2000s), so not in the city per se but defintiely not rural, the topic of convict ancestors never came up with Anglo/white Aussies but like you said, at that age they wouldn't have thought about it anyway (32 now so I'll ask my mate about it in 10 years lol). So I never had that perspective shared with me.

I've never actually shagged an Aussie girl to be honest, they don't seem to go for me at all unlike some other nationalities. Also, I have to admit I don't find them to be the nicest/friendliest girls either, fairly arrogant in my experience. A couple of Aussie dudes have told me they are largely shit in bed too, boring and generic, and that they prefer fucking American chicks for example. Again, no personal experience to confirm or deny that.
My experiences go back into the 90s, so maybe things have changed. They did have a tough exterior and wit, but that was all bullshit once you get in there. I remember them drinking like men, and being proud of it. I do remember them having a thing about not shaving their cooch. For them back then, I remember they didn't think it proper to show labia. It was like taboo. Things have probably changed now with all the immigration. I was on the train with a bunch of Chinese people last week and they had Australian accents!

Never been, but they have some good comics.

Michael Cusack and Sexualobster comes to mind.

They even have funny women. Toni Storm and Harley Cameron have had their moments in AEW.

Hey I can quote again!

Yeah I'd regard any part of any capital city as city. I lived and worked in Sydney for around ten years, some of it Western Sydney so yeah I know what you mean about it not coming up and people having no idea or not caring.
As I said, rural Aussie families tend to have been here much longer.
I don't think my interest was specifically sparked until I read 'the First Fleet' by Rob Mundle and Watkin Tench's '1788'. Both books blew me away and I went looking. Prior to that I didn't care.
I've also got lineage from a black slave that made his way from the US to Canada and then to Oz. My ancestors were no strangers to chains apparently!

None of this is a brag. It is what it is. I was a cop for many years so I wasn't proud to find convict heritage lol.

I worked Western Syd when you would have arrived. Are you Eastern Euro or Middle Eastern? (Don't have to answer...lol disregard, I just read your username). There was a heavy influx of Yugoslavians in that area at that time.

Above all don't don't take any of my posts with any hint of hostility, I'm rarely hostile to anyone on here.

We've already lost so many posters and the post count is dwindling from when started on the forums
