It's been a while since I've seen North shore, but I think the song was the one by Gangajang
 
I love the way Australian slag is used on the news and in their papers “a man was gravely injured after getting bashed on kings street Friday evening”. I have told this before, but during college I worked in a Bar in NYC near NYU and a modeling agency. I should have gotten some sort of culture class credit. I dated and slept with women from all over the world. I watched interactions, behaviors etc. The idea that Americans own the loud and obnoxious moniker is laughable. The Brits and Aussies blow us away. As for the women, Aussie women are not the most feminine, but they are sexy and lots of fun in bed.

iTunes has it, but it sounded like low energy subdued cover compared to what I remembered from the movie as high energy version.

Hmmm, you were talking North Shore, the old 1987 surf movie? (I imagine so if you are from Hawaii.) You might want to look that movie up on IMDB and scroll down to the soundtrack section. Maybe one of the other songs listed there is what you were thinking of. Or maybe someone did a cover of it? Apparently it's actually called 'Sounds of then'.

I did a search on North Shore Soundtrack, there is a compilation of clips on youtube you could go through
