Thinking of SoCal

How was your mother in law able to push you out of AZ. Didn't you claim the property rights after your wife died?

Newport Beach is in my top 5 places to live in the US. One of the most amazing harbors and great F'ing surf. People are all super friendly and it has a true beach community feel. OC is also much different than LA. For all the politics that ruin LA, OC is still somewhat sane with their local laws. I would move there in a heartbeat if I could but OC is insanely expensive.

Ever since getting the boot from my house in Sedona by my mother-in-law, I've been almost obsessively thinking of Southern California. I realize that I'm romanticizing it because it's where I met my wife but that's OK. If I'm going to romanticize someplace it might as well be SoCal because everyone else does it. My obsession is specifically about Orange County since that's where Jana & I spent the vast majority of our time together when I met her there a few years ago. I only saw a little bit of LA & the rest of the time we spent in her hometown of Orange, her old neighborhood in Newport Beach where she lived while she was in college, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa & some other places too. And I fell in love with it. I didn't think I'd want to go back there without my wife but it's actually become the opposite. I feel like it's calling me & that I'd feel closer to her there.

<WellThere>

I'm a Ca native 51 born in east LA... Expensive huge traffic jams high gas prices etc chased me out in 93' after college. I literally could not afford to live...only go back to see my parents and my eyes start watering due to smog. Fuck that place.

I live in las Vegas and Pensacola fl now. Better climate and better beaches.

LMAO

Normally would say fuck off no more transplants@TeTe ...

But you are an OG who's already been to OC here so come on down!! we're at full maximum capacity but you already know that.

Is living in LA and never going downtown the same thing as living in LV and never going to the strip? I swear for the lifetime of me being here I think ive been to downtown maybe 15 times? Most of it was for court. Its a shithole with no parking.

Born and raised out here, but I've lived in several other places. I'd look somewhere else, it's not what it used to be for all the reasons already listed. And to those who think LA is the greatest city, you need to check your goggles mate, it's a shyt hole.

I can't stop laughing. Can't imagine how poor you have to be to move out in 93.

OC is the goat. Lived here my entire life and never plan on leaving.

I love san Diego. I love the city and the outskirts. I've only flown into LA but it appears to be a shithole to me.

I've been considering moving to SD for years. We could actually afford it though it would mean downgrading property significantly.

How u set for cash TS?

Are you saying you’re thinking about moving there or just would like to? It is very expensive like Sedona.

Orange County CA is a special place. I will never forget the time I spent there and it stays with me too, but it's a difficult place to put down roots due to the expense of living there. Probably a decision to make when you have a little more clarity about your life and you've had some time to emotionally heal.

Best of luck one way or another.

No way. Downtown LA is an afterthought it’s not like most cities.

If you have the financial support to do so I say go for it. California is a great place to live.

Oh, man. That's a long, sad, frustrating tale to tell. Basically, it involved our house still technically being in my wife's parent's names even though her father gave it to us as a wedding gift, him dying last year without his wishes regarding his estate clearly spelled out in his will which was still in probate when my wife died, she didn't leave a will, so, the entire estate was pretty much handed over to my wife's sister the only surviving child. I tried to fight it in order to keep the house but my attorney said it could take years to do so. So, he negotiated a financial settlement for me. And I took it & walked away.

Yeah, it definitely is. I'd love to live there too, bro.

Yeah, I know. I could do it if I really wanted to fly by the seat of my pants & then work my ass off. But I don't know. It's a lot to consider. So, I'm going to give it at least a year before I make that sort of decision. I mean, I could go crash on my daughter's couch in Long Beach while I scope things out but I'm still going to wait a year.

Downgrading here isn't really downgrading. You really shouldn't be spending much time inside at all anyway.
