Food & Drink Thinking of getting into Takeaway Coffee ☕ - Recommend me a Drink

The staff at Costa were rude so I went to Greggs and grabbed a large gingerbread latte.

‘tis the season for all things sweet and our Gingerbread Latte has been warming up for this moment.

Made with freshly ground coffee, semi-skimmed milk and a dash of gingerbread flavour syrup, we then add a swirl of cream and spiced sugar sprinkles to make it the most drool-worthy drink to hit our menu.

All we want for Christmas… is this.

A latte, or 'caffè latte,' is an espresso-based coffee drink made with a shot or two of espresso, steamed milk and a thin layer of foamed milk on top. It's known for its balanced, smooth and milky flavour due to the high ratio of steamed milk to espresso. Many variations exist, and it can be customised with syrups and flavourings.

Not that I have much to compare it with, but I would give it 6½/10. Maybe 7. It was a mild flavour which is what I was looking for, lots of milk, sweet but not sickly. It gave me a little boost of energy. I drank it through the lid so the cream on top just melted into the drink. If I were sitting down somewhere I would eat it with a spoon. I did think the gingerbread flavour could have been stronger, but if you look at other reviews most people are saying it's strong so maybe I'm an outlier there. I'm not getting in the Christmas mood yet as it's too early, still I suppose this did start up the festive ambience. Nice and comforting on a black, rainy afternoon. Overall as the description above says I found this a well-balanced beverage, that did what I wanted so this was a successful start to the experiment.

you in England yeah? I think Greggs is UK. How much was it. Just curious. Used to live there.

Black coffee is fine
White coffee is fine
A pinch of sugar is fine.
- I'll drink any type of coffee really. With milk / sugar or without either, doesn't really bother me.

Coffee at a lot of these places is stupidly expensive IMHO. Just my view.

Oh yeah....I tried one of those "capsule" machines recently at a work site, and yeah that was good, quality coffee.

Sorry i can't be more specific but ....just try coffee at 4 or 5 places and stick with the one that you like the best.

Yes. I'm traditionally a tea drinker, although I have never drunk it a lot. Never drunk much coffee.

Greggs is mainly in the UK but it has a few outlets on the continent. It was £3.35.

I'm not eager to return to (any) Costa after the rude staff, and unfortunately that is the biggest chain in this country, but Greggs and Starbucks are also very big and I've established that I like Greggs lattes, and I can always venture into smaller chains or independent shops moving forward. I don't like buying from machines. Although most of the machines I see are also Costa and/or cashless so it's moot in their case. I'll keep the thread updated when there's something worthwhile updating. ☕👍

A plain black coffee or two will be good in the morning. Green tea is also a go for me. Take out coffees maybe once every month now. It can be expensive if doing it everyday …

Just avoid Starbucks and you'll be fine.

Unless you like drinking liquid asphalt
