Things that are overpriced.

I found an entire one bedroom apartment in Dublin City Center on River Liffey for $70 a night recently.

Ten years ago the company I worked for was paying more than 3,000 euros a month for an apartment for our sales rep in that area.

I saw a refill pack the other day for $30 I was shocked. I use electric but feel bad for people getting ripped off by Gillette. Especially when companies like Harry's or Dollarshaveclub can sell them so cheap.

Where I live cheese is overpriced. I don't know why exactly. Guess it's just taxed to death here. It's a great mystery to me.

Dairy products here aren't cheap either. Milk, cheeses, and ice cream products are still pricey, even in the dead of winter.

Popcorn and soda at the movie theater (I paid $12 for nachos and a small soda).

Any repair service (plumber, auto, electrician, etc.).

There's a long-winded explanation why theatre concessions prices are so expensive, so I won't get into it too far and try to keep it brief, but theatres have to make the bulk of their revenues off of them because big Hollywood takes most of the ticket sales profits. If I recall correctly it's 85% the first week, 80% the second week, 75% the third week, 70% the fourth week, and then it's 50% for the fifth week and onwards.

For the vast majority of movies, the targeted demographic attends within the first two weeks. The theatres (and chains) don't see much in terms of profits off of ticket sales until they get prints of a movie with legs... ie. Titanic, Avatar, Batman:The Dark Knight.

When you factor in the cost of utilities and wages/salaries and the purchase costs of the prints and advertising/memorabilia, and discounting the revenues brought in from concessions... theatres don't make near as much as people think. This is why popcorn and pop is so expensive.

The 7 major Hollywood studios control the release and distribution of virtually all movies in US/Canada, which includes most limited and independent films as well.

Show me where the $30k Raptors are and save me 2.

I'll buy every one @ $30k. My boss owns one, and he barely ever drives it now that the warranty is up on it. He said he paid over $70k for his, and he's terrified of it breaking. I can't believe the new Raptors are coming in with a V6 (if I heard it correctly).

Boats

Shopping for a wakeboarding boat recently

We're talking 70k for the basic one and 170k for the top of the line

And that's with boat show discounts

Fuck owning a boat! I hated every second of it. Nothing but problems.

You know what "boat" stands for?

Bust. Out. Another. Thousand.

Good answers. Concert tix have gotten outrageous.

I'd like to nominate nuts but they really are a pain the in the ass to harvest I guess. Pistachios are really expensive but so delicious.

As the saying goes, the happiest days of a boat owners life is the day he buys it, and the day he sells it.

You know how you know you're ready to buy another? Stand in the shower with the water on cold and feed ten dollar bills into the drain. When that starts feeling good, you're ready.

What boat did you have?
I want an axis a20

In the mid-2000s I had a late-90s fish/ski boat I bought from my dad's buddy for cheap.

Thing fucking sucked.

Then I inherited my grandfather's early-90s Bass Buggy. Which was actually fucking awesome because I didn't put a dime into it and it lasted me 4 years on the lake.

We partied fucking hard on that Bass Buggy. Hoes love to get fucked on boats.

those random chicks claiming to be virgins trying to auction it off for hundreds of thousands approaching the 1m mark.
