Things that are depicted inaccurately in tv/film

Any time there's a sex scene they hardly ever show penetration or orgasms. Kids these days are going to be awkwardly groping and grinding on each other and wonder why a baby never follows
Or how about when they switch to porn and figure out that not only does most of that shit not really feel that good, but actually hurts.

I came up with a theory & edited into my original response :D

Space.
Especially the depiction of sound.
There's no air to convey sound waves.
No pew pew whoosh.

I know, audiences are stupid and wouldn't understand.
"Why did everything go silent?
Why did the movie stop thinking for me?"

They did a good job with this in “Gravity.” They didn’t have sound effects but used dramatic music instead.

I am very much into outer space shit. But I would hate it if there was no sound during space battles. The way I see it is they are showing you what’s happening outside the ship while letting you hear what’s going on inside the ship.
If they did that, just foley in SFX, I wouldn't mind.
But all the laser sounds from enemies and splosions going boom?
Nope.
Space is quiet. All you'd hear is in helmet comms, and seat creaking.

this is debatable. i say this because i had a friend come up to chico CA and was blown away and said i thought these types of parties were only in the movies. It was just a regular saturday night for me.

Certain places have crazy parties
Reminds me of Bruce Dickinson describing Iron Maiden's first US tour. The first place they played was in Michigan. He'd never heard of a "hot tub party" and was shocked at being surrounded by scantily clad, perfect American chicks on day one in a small town.

Haha... Great point by both of you.

Sound "inside" a vessel, has air & so is heard... so an explosion for example on the hull would be heard. Lets just say that blaster fire is represented by what the person shooting it is hearing as it leaves the gun & airwaves transfer the sound into the cab. The sound the TIE fighters make are the sound that the driver of that vessel hearz... etc... :D

Since Star Wars is just a cinimatic representation of true historical events. (from a long time ago)... & as it's only a representation... they added the sound to these historical biographies for the sake of the audience... as heard from inside each vessel.
It's a cinematic conceit, it would be off putting for the audience to have scientific concepts realistically depicted, more's the pity.

When grenades explode. In the moveis it's always some kind of huge multiple propane tank explosion. In real life, it's a pretty big boom, but no fire. A lot of dust displacement. Not that you should be looking at it - you'd take shrapnel.

What about when Kevin Bacon held on to an exploding grenade in X-Men First Class?

Awe... I thought it was pretty legit that those explosions & blaser fire were heard from within the vessel.

The viewing audience is outside of the vessel, but for the sake of sharing the experience of those who heard it from within the vessel... I think it's legit yeah?

Ahh.
The uncomfortable plot insertion of weird coincidental familial relationships to avoid a possible love triangle
Haha... no, it actually took me a moment after my initial post before the Force sent me the proper information, & I didn't want anyone to be misguided who might of come across my post at a future time.

Yah, you have to make concessions. The average moviegoer wouldn't notice or care.
And if it's done well and within a good story, those minor points don't take me out of the film.

You can't hear sound in space
and aliens don't speak English.

Firearms are horribly portrayed in cinema and silencers as well. I think the movie Commando might be the worst offender... don't think Arnold puts the rifle into his shoulder a single time but never misses.

Remember the fake log he was carrying ?
