I've just always disagreed with the apoligizing for doing some vanity lifts here and there that goes on in this forum. THere is absolutely nothing wrong with hitting some vanity lifts if your putting the time and effort into you primary goal. If your primary goal happens to be getting jakt, I'll welcome you as well, but tell you there are better places to find information on that topic than here.

Very true. However, i only said it was "useless" due to the lack of any heavy lifting today. My goal is strength, however i didn't start lifting to get smaller. some jacktness is needed.

I guess you could consider it a religon to a certain point as it has a place of worship(the curl/Squat rack) and mantras(you got it bro, it was all you) and a bible(Muscle and Fitness). I personally don't worship JAKT or Squatr.

starting way to slow. My max deadlift was faster off the floor. This leads to minor problems. IE: no triple extention and my shrug being rubbish.oddly enough when doing this i also don't try to get under the bar.

Well I have a BJJ class first, then a Kickboxing class, so either one works for me...:icon_twis

In all seriousness, my stand up fighting is way better than my grappling at the moment. I have very few natural talents, but one of them is Heavy Hands; I bloodied a sparring partner's nose a few weeks back in spite of us both throwing shots of less than 50% power. We were supposed to be training technique rather than hard sparring.

Both my sparring partner and my instructor were less than amused...:icon_lol:

I happen to be of the opinion that blood, especially when it happens without any legitimate injury, always adds a nice dynamic to training. And you just gave him a bloody nose...it's not like you opened up a cut on his brow. Huge difference in the power needed to cause those things. Bloody noses happen.

Yeah, bloody noses happen easily enough. The amusing thing was, before the sparring began my instructor told me, "Dave, I know you've got power and you're tough. So just spar light and work on timing, speed and technique."

Of course I followed instructions and thought I was touch-sparring...until my partner called a time out because he was bleeding on the mats. The stupid things you say in these type of situations:

Me, "How did that happen?"

Sparring partner, "Well, that uppercut you landed on my nose probably had something to do with it..."

Of course, he had to let the instructor know he was leaving the class to get some tissue to stuff up his nose. The instructor looked at me and just shook his head.

"Dave, what part of 'spar light' did you not understand?"
