They Live log.

On my phone i cannot view who starts a log so i am only stumbling in here for the first time, nice zercher work. i have noticed you posting questions about o lifting. I encourage the switch and wish i switched 3 years ago when i saw the team i currently lift with practicing in the gym I joined at the time.

I've probably made the switch already. I've been thinking about how I've been wanting snatch and clean PR's more than Bench & Deadlift PR's.

You're young, and given how you seem to be moving quite a lot of weight without much of a programme or coaching, obviously strong. You really ought to get your ass to a proper coach. You could probably do some impressive things if you did.

Thanks jaunty. I've looked into Coaching options a little bit. I probably should look harder. I figure that way I wouldn't have to worry about programming and all of that stuff.

Brilliant. I love office space.

I saw several of your posts in various o lifting threads and wondered which log was yours.

Anywho cool to hear on making the switch. How do you like the fast lifts so far?

I'm enjoying them quite a bit. I still have a problem of trying to power clean the weight rather then drop down and receive the clean. So I've got to work on that quite a bit. Other than that things have been going smoothly. I'll need to post some form check vids pretty soon.

I had that issue with snatches and did scarecrow snatch drills a ton and then made sure very rep I dropped under instead of powering.

If I encounter problems getting under heavy snatches I'll try this.

I didn't lift. I was supposed to squat. Long story short I didn't want to clean. So I thought why not Zercher ? I then realized Zerchers are incredibly hard at times. So I said Fuck it.

I put the bar In In a LB position and moved my hands closer and closer. I don't think this does anything but my shoulders feel awesome after doing this. I also did shoulder dislocations as well. I then did 5 pull ups.

diet shit.*
cinna pops
Buffalo chicken sub (extra fajita sauce.)
Monster (cap and standard sized.)
stuff I forgot.

Add Nacho's and reeses cups.

Orrrr, crazy thought. You could stop mucking about, lock on to a half decent Oly program, and put up real numbers.

Just sayin. :)

What would you suggest ? I am still having problems receiving heavy cleans. So I would have to cut out Power cleans for the foreseeable future.

EDIT:
Strict press.
138 lbs x 4x4

Just putting this down here. I'll edit it later I may just touch n go just to get over with it quickly.

So your power cleans are pretty good but your cleans need more work, and you wonder which one you need to work on?

:)

Nah I know my full clean needs tons of work. I'll be doing my cleaning from the hang today as well. Just focus on getting under the bar like you previously suggested sir.

How often do you train each week?

Depends. If I am working on form then everyday Albeit with lighter weights. Though, I go heavier three to four days a week.

Please call me Eric, not sir.

But yeah, if your power clean is good, and you are trying to work on the full clean, fuck power cleans.

That's a hell of a lot easier than Arlecchino.

Elegantly put.

Does sort of eliminate any gray area.

:)

I know a lot of people start out with the power versions. TBH, I have started a lot of athletes on them as well for a variety of reasons (usually time and because they were competing in other sports, so I had to make compromises). But if your goal is to learn the snatch and clean, you need to practice them as much as possible. Just like any other technique.

If you really want to piss him off try "Commander" mwhahahaha. :)

Seriously though. Like he said. If you want to do full cleans.... then full clean. I've never understood using lots of PCs with novice programs. I like the PC, don't get me wrong. I just think you have to be at a certain skill level to be able to accurately hit the switch between "full" and "power" movements.

I do it in a few cases:

1. Pre-existing injury. Gisela (my woman) had L4-L5 and SI issues, so we had to carefully work on what she could do. Now she is doing fine, but at first it was a slow, careful road. Had a couple of other athletes in the same or similar category.
2. Flexibility. Amazing how many people have shit for flexibility. So, as you know, in this case it is just work on gradually going lower as flexibility improves.
3. Athletes for other sports with limited time to coach them. With a group of athletes, even as few as four or five at a time, and one hour to 1.5 hours three times a week to coach them, really working on the full lifts does not give them the benefit they need. Can teach the power versions + squat more quickly and get more bang for the buck. Yes, this can make learning the full lifts more difficult later on, but sometimes as an S&C coach you have to compromise to get the most for the sport in question instead of looking at lifting in isolation. I really do not like having to do this, but, well, I like being unemployed even less.
:)

i wonder if arlechino and legiotitan will ever disagree?
