There is no difference between Contender Series fighters and Regular UFC direct hires

I would like to see data to support that. @Zebra Cheeks has all the win/loss records for DWCS fights. I'd like to see the same for direct hire fighters
With win rates above 50% for all seasons, it’s guaranteed that they are actually more effective than the average fighter who is acquired through other means.

This is not true. Plenty of finalists, semi-finalists and worse in TUF get another chance in the UFC. A lot of the TUF participants who end up losing have a good or better career than the actual winner.
which losers have gone on to have better careers than winners besides Paulo Costa

All this hate/ criticism against contenders series guys makes no logical sense.

Guys who got contracts off the contender series get the same starting contracts as direct hires.

Fighters recruited to fight on contender series are plucked from the same promotions they get their direct hires.

The is no logical reason fighters coming through one show would be any better or worse than fighters on the other show.

It’s the same people recruiting them.

Imagine if this seasons DWCS fighters were cast on TUF instead or if the TUF guys had to earn a contract through DWCS. Their fighting ability wouldn’t be any different

Solid thread.

A bit weird as I thought you were a troll given your questionable signature (status?)

But you seem to post decent stuff from time to time.

I think OP is more addressing the talent side of it, rather than the money side of it.

I think most of us are probably not against more fighter pay for new fighters.

True but I say that because of his point, because now Danas just strong arming the same level of talent for waaaaay less than even a okay contract

Except many of these DWCS fights are squash matches. One party is supposed to dominate someone who shouldn't be there. There are more than enough examples of this.

But Dana gets three free fights out of them for ESPN via using the series.
Big value difference to top brass.

That isn't true. Where are you getting this?

Most UFC fighters get a standard contract regardless of how they were hired. It scales up if they can rake up wins.

Here a comparison of the pay of the first three fights between Sodiq Yusuff who was awarded a contract on the Contender Series and Zabit Magomedsharipov who was a direct hire to the UFC.

They are paid EXACTLY THE SAME

Granted we can debate whether this contract is good or not. Or whether not fighters are getting their worth. Those are fair arguments.

But saying that DWCS guys are cheaper simply isn't true.

Sodiq Yusuff: $73,500 ($10,000 to show, $10,000 win bonus, $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus, $3,500 fight week incentive pay)
Sodiq Yusuff: $28,000 ($12,000 to show, $12,000 win bonus, $4,000 fight week incentive pay)
Sodiq Yusuff: $31,500 ($14,000 to show, $14,000 win bonus, $3,500 fight week incentive pay)

Zabit Magomedsharipov– Sept 2/17 – W (Santiago) – $72,500 ($10,000 to show, $10,000 win bonus, $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus, $2,500 Reebok sponsorship)
Zabit Magomedsharipov – Nov 25/17 – W (Moraes) – $76,500 ($12,000 to show, $12,000 win bonus, $50,000 Performance of the Night, $2,500 Reebok sponsorship)
Zabit Magomedsharipov
– W (Bochniak) – $81,500 ($14,000 to show, $14,000 win bonus, $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus, $3,500 fight week incentive pay)

You are 100% on point. I was going to start a thread saying the same. The difference is that the hires are more public, and the competition for who is more "exciting" happens in front of us.

Honestly, it's better for them that they come through DWCS, it helps them establish a brand with momentum coming into the UFC.

It gives them name recognition when they are on the early prelims of a card when otherwise someone might skip the fight completely.
Solid post.
