Because the OP is making the idiotic statement that George W. Bush's opinion matters at all and we should dictate our opinions on conservatism based on what he says.

He was a hated individual amongst the left who wouldn't listen to before. But once he speaks out against Trump then suddenly he's the picture perfect version of conservatism that every right wing person should respect and emulate.

The left are simply listening to guys like George W. Bush, Michael Bolton and Dick Cheney because they came out as anti-Trump. If they supported Trump and said literally the exact same things, they would be criticizing them and their association with Trump. Because the words don't matter. It's all about Trump. I wish the democrats would let go of all their Trump hatred because they just keep digging themselves deeper into unpopularity.

Again, this is pretty simple: you can agree with someone on a specific topic without that meaning you retroactively agree with everything they did or have said.

I've never seen someone point to Dick Cheney or GWB as "the picture perfect version of conservatism" nor heard anyone ever say that. The softening of opinions on Bush are more in comparison to Trump's policies (or finding common ground on very specific issues), its not a defense of all the bs he did.

I am not in fact rioting, and I can guarantee that the overwhelming majority of people on the left do not support nor are they rioting either, despite the nonsense spewed online.

Do I support the right to protest? Sure, not just for one side or issue, and with reasonable constraints. I have been clear in my stance that people committing criminal acts (rioting, looting, arson, assaulting people or police) are criminals and should face consequences.

Unlike the right, who will downplay their side rioting, looting, committing arson, assaulting police AND cheer when the president pardons criminal activity their side commits en-masse.

I think I can outline my feeling with the effects of the USAID cuts. It was a tiny part of the budget and these cuts will lead to many hundreds of thousands of deaths and suffering just this year. We are cutting things for the poor and giving tax cuts to the rich.

We had Elon whooping it up on stage smiling and running around on the as he got ready to make these cuts that will lead to so much death and suffering. Never seen Elon look so happy ever. Here is a man that could solve world hunger on his own but would rather make it worse.

I haven't seen a single trumper say they didn't agree with the cuts. Feels like the movement hates everyone but themselves. Maga would rather kick the poor than give them a hand up.
