Economy The [Wall / Government Shutdown] Megathread

Would you approve of Trump using emergency powers to build his wall?

There are so many weasel words in Trump's alleged national emergency plan to build the wall that I expect the Wall to be built when the Keystone XL Pipeline is. What's going to change between now and February?

What's going to happen in February?

Lol how desperate are you guys for a win? So many nobodies @Ing me. So desperate for my attention.

You're a famous guy around here.

Maybe you should return the "love" with a collective spine-buster to them.....

...with "love", of course. <BirdieOwn>

@glenwo2 's mental breakdown itt is entertaining as hell.

Yes.

HE shut the govt down.

HE was "proud" to do it.

If you think for ONE NANOSECOND that he wanted to concede like this...........................

I have a timeshare to sell you in Puerto Rico.
So much fail ...

Ride the horse to crazy land though with the near sighted direction.

For all the goobers celebrating. .we agree this is just for 3 weeks right? And he was very clear we'd have another shutdown or national emergency if there wasn't wall funding at that point ...right?

These same goobers are under the impression that the "Temporary 3 weeks" is a verbal agreement and not written in stone or something. <Lmaoo>

They think this is over when it's just beginning.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and see what happens in 3 weeks but if this is it, then yeah I'll say I'm let down by Trump as much as I am our whole gov't. A barrier at our border should not be this controversial.

This fight is far from over, Seano.

Trump RAN on this in his Campaign to be POTUS.

I would venture that he is going to do WHATEVER IT TOOK to get that Wall funded (or Steel Slats, or whatever the fuck it is). #LoseTheBattleWinTheWar

Yeah. I just don't understand how many here believe the Government won't get shutdown again after the TEMPORARY 3-week respite is done.

Trump may be a lot of things but he's a very stubborn person and it just doesn't seem to be in his nature to just give up on what he's striving for.
you guys really are that dumb eh?

Trump caved now, instead of just keeping them out for months or a year as he threatened, as the airports and other services were starting to shut down. Instead of just 800,000 in govt service work inconvenienced, millions more were about to be inconvenienced. Public sentiment for Trump had already started to sink and it would plummet once every day citizens started to feel the pain.

Trump thought the Dem's would cave first but they would not. They WILL not.

if Trump puts all of them out of work again, now after seeing all the pain and crying many of them were doing on TV, and if he uses them as ping pong balls, when he KNOWS the Dem's won't negotiate under that threat, he is doing nothing but hurting the workers and citizens as he already knows it does not work to get a deal. So what is the point other than hurting workers and citizens? And who is going to wear that if they do it deliberately and knowingly?

Thats pretty much how it looks from my angle too. I just can't see such fear over a physical barrier at our border.

It's the "fear" of losing more potential Voters.

That's it.

try from this angle then

if you need the audio to hear him say he is the one responsible for shutting down gov't just let me know and i'll hook ya up.

Happy to help clear the view.

Nice. Schumer staring out into Space talking to himself and not looking Trump in the Eye.

What a Tough guy.

Yyyeeeeoooo man... why so harsh?

Let them dream a lil homey...

It’s gonna hurt real bad later on so let them dream a lil while longer...

I thought Trump could just declare a national emergency and push it through?

Do you think he'll be in a better or worse position if he forces a shutdown for a second time?

I don't know but the deal was 3-weeks in which case if nothing is resolved, the Shutdown automatically occurs again.

I think he will enact "emergency powers" or whatever they call it in 3 weeks instead.

I just don't see there being any point to have another shutdown anyway since the Democraps won't budge.

No more sense in having federal workers go without pay again.

And btw, aren't Politicians considered Federal Workers themselves? Why aren't THEIR paychecks held?

Supposedly that is what he may think about doing in 3 weeks. I would love to see how that goes and I don't think it would bode well for him. Not getting his way on the border wall is not a national emergency at all

Don't care who tucked dick glad someone finally gave in.

This only gets the govt. running for 3 weeks. Hopefully a deal will be put together before then, but who knows.

I'm with you on this.

Something tells me this will be resolved someway.

Maybe a border security deal without the wall is done, then Trump enacts the "Emergency powers" thing and tries to get Wall-funding that way, though it would be bogged down in the courts for all eternity.

I don't follow politics as much as you guys do. But why did Trump not get this taken care of when he held more power in the first two years of his presidency? Seems odd to do it after dems make progress after the mid-terms

Maybe his attention was focused more on improving the Economy(which is in terrific shape right now) and Unemployment early on? <mma4>
