The victim in Conors rape case being investigated was brutalized, Conor later said it was consensual

They anounced in present tense, they wouldn't bring it up if it wasn't still in play.

I think Conor is coming close to the end. The way he is viewed anyway. This has Bill Cosby written all over me too all up on this.

The DPP (prosecutor)can make the case civil and continue the investigation.
If the defendant has stopped talking , then there is nothing the DPP can do.

I very much doubt the nytimes made any calls.
Even if they did, dpp are not allowed to respond.

After the #metoo movement, I think we can safely ignore any claim of rape at this point.

This isn't a court of law, it's the court of public opinion.

Yeah and the public has no facts whatsoever. We are not at trial. Nobody has been charged with anything. You can’t take rumors and speculation in the media and use them as facts.. nobody has officially gone on the record and claimed that Conor McGregor is guilty of anything.

The NY Times were the first major NA news source to break the news and officially named conor as the one currently being investigated for rape the day he retired as well.

Everything will eventually come out. It's only a matter of how long Conor can prolong the pending case.

LOL. It doesn't shock me that some people don't understand why it should be higher.

Firstly, you are attemping to ruin someone's life. That's 10 years right there. If rape is 10 years, then accusing someone of rape should be the 10 years you tried to get them put in jail for.

In addition, you do a disservice to all the other actual rape victims in the world. There's a reason that rape cases are so difficult to prove -- because scumbags fake rape ALL THE TIME. That should be an extra 10 years for faking rape due to the damage to other rape victims.

While I understand your points, it is a common misconception that fake rapes accusations are a common occurrence - it certainly does happen, but it is hardly the norm. Statistically speaking, rape victims are far more likely not to report a rape, than for a person to make a false claim. The latter tends to be sensationalized by the media and garners an understandably outraged reaction by the public, leading to heuristic bias.

With that being said, false rape accusations are much more common among high profile athletes and celebrities (due to the obvious financial incentive), so I will reserve any judgement against Connor until more facts are revealed. His behavioral track record isn't looking too rosey though - he has exhibited increasingly erratic and violent behavior. His life is taking a disturbing parallel to Mike Tyson's.

Wish him the best if he is innocent, but hope he gets raped in prison if he is guilty (an eye for an eye type of justice)

Exactly.

I had sex with this one chick a couple times, and then I ditched her for her hotter friend. She tried to tell everyone I raped her, but luckily my roommate was there to tell everyone she showed up at our place drunk begging for sex at 1AM. He even had a video of it.

But if I didn't have witnesses or evidence to prove my case, the police might actually have believed her. The accusation of rape alone can fucking ruin someone's life, and the majority of rape allegations are false.

Sorry to quote you again, but also untrue.

Majority of rape claims are difficult to convict (time elapse, unwilling testimony on behalf of the victim etc), but are not falsified.

Well it was a matter of time before he got #metoo (ish).

Innocent until proven guilty though...

It is factual that he was accused of rape and is being investigated.

This story hasn’t gained traction in the mainstream press. But when Mike Tyson was accused of rape it was all over the news.

Anyway Conor has lost all respect from me. He’s a married man he shouldn’t be behaving like that.

Nope, you are either willfully ignorant to the depths some people will plunge for money or just plain naive.

I'm not for a second saying I think that happened or that I think Conor is guilty either, I'm simply trying to point out to some that until he charged and found guilty it's completely unfair to act like one theory outweighs another, unfortunately many women have made false allegations to people in Conor position....

If he's guilty then I feel terrible that the girl has to deal with not only a rape but accusations of gold digging, but I feel equally bad for Conor if it was consentual sex and he's been falsely accused, let's be honest, even if he's never charged with anything, mud sticks and he'll always have to deal with that cloud...

There's are reason that most well adjusted countries have laws that means they do not name suspects in these cases, although the papers in Ireland may as well have named him.

I hope the truth comes out whatever it is.
Nah. You're just desperate. You'd gladly twist and turn in air like Shamu if it meant justifting your fandom for a guy who you will never matter to.

What's more likely: an abrasive asshole who routinely acts above the law committing rape or a girl who would jam a tampon into her cervix and get beat up for a payday?

Plenty of evidence in both cases actually. If you actually researched the details of the Ronaldo case you'd see how shady the original settlement was, and how easily people in positions of power abuse it.

Also found the last part pretty cute.

Sherdogger: I'm not a fan of Conor btw.
Same Sherdogger: *spends 3 days, 200 posts trying to defend Conor against rape allegations*

<DontBelieve1>
Look at my post history about Conor. With that said, I’m just defending the fact that he’s innocent until guilty.

You don’t believe me which is hilarious bc you can look back at what I posted.

Congratulations, you’re an idiot.

Evidence exists for Ronaldo. There is a reason arguably the most powerful athlete in the world hasn't been able to escape this case, even after settling over 10 years ago.

For all who are interested, simply read the leaked court documents where he even described the events himself in a personal statement.
There’s evidence? Why isn’t he in prison? Can you show me this evidence that you speak of? Post it below.

I disagree completely on the ppv part. That wouldn’t sell for shit. What, a decade from now? Even his huggers may have gotten married and grown up by then. Or I’d fucking hope so.

His huggers would divorce their wives and abandon their kids if Conor asked them to.

The problem with this thread is this one fact and the 60 pages.

FACT: Conor hasnt been charged with anything.
and the accused has gone quiet about this issue
I wouldn't be surprised if she's driving around in a lambo in a few weeks.

How can they make it a civil case if they're not the plaintiff?

I don't see that as a realistic way out for Conor but what else is he going to say? Either he did it, and all the evidence points to that, or someone else did it but the people with him that night were reportedly his underworld buddies.
Do you want my honest but somewhat obvious response? I think he's gonna say everything his very expensive lawyers are gonna tell him to say. That might include victim shaming and other tactics. I'll tell you this though. This stuff requires an ability to handle the PR side with a certain finesse. Posting a pic where he stares at a woman's ass, right after the news was broken by the NY Times, doesn't look like someone who's taken the situation seriously, innocent or not. It rings more like mockery and provocation akin 'I do whatever the fook I want.'
